he undisputed king of the beat-em-up finally returns to home consoles in this arcade conversion of Street Fighter IV.

With Street Fighter II, the world of fighting games was changed forever. With its simple controls and in-depth combo system, it welcomed both newcomers and hardcore beat-em-up loyalists with open arms. After being the staple of fighters since the early nineties, its true successor rears its head in the form of Street Fighter IV. The same lighting fast combos and over-the-top characters are on board, now with a fresh visual overhaul and tweaks to the popular blueprint.

The striking visuals of Street Fighter IV stand out from the typical 3D fighter, with a hand drawn style turning fights into moving paintings as broad black brush strokes flow across the screen. This anime style of graphics also plays into the fluid animation, allowing players to string together moves without pause. Old characters of the series return, including favourites Chung-Li and Ryu, as well as a collection of brand new fighters.

Street Fighter IV manages to blend the old with the new. Its fluid, precise combat is back, but with an updated, prominent new look.

What's wrong with the one that came with your console?

BFN,

fp.

[EDIT]:
(I was not at all tempted to say "SIXAXIS" or "DUALSHOCK 3")

Seriously, though... will anyone buy this version of the game now that the "Super Street Fighter IV" title is due out next Spring?

The best control for Street Fighter is without doubt an arcade stick, but these can be quite pricey, the top of the range Tournament Edition Stick is amazing but for £100+ it's a bit much for most people. The cheapest decent arcade stick for the 360 would probably be the Hori EX2 stick that came out for virtua fighter 5 and soul calibur 4, however they are in pretty short supply so you're looking at £40-50.

Pad's are cheaper and the madcatz fight pads are supposed to be decent and have a good d-pad and 6 button layout but I've not used one myself, also the limited edition green official 360 pad has a vastly improved d-pad (16 instead of 8 directions) which is great for pulling off moves, it might be worth seeing if any shops have a cheap one of those in stock.

the xbox 360 pad isn't the greatest for fighting games, its a bit bulky to execute quick moves

to be honest u probably want to get a fight stick for street fighter,

there a hori one @ £40 (expensive for what it is)

madcatz SE for £69.99

or just a little over £100 for the madcatz edition with real arcade parts (hori parts) which is really nice.

Spring's quite a distance away to go without Street Fighter, also there's supposed to be a yet to be announced benefit for people who have the original game.. .

Still it is worth mentioning Super Street Fighter IV is going to be stand alone and cheaper than a full price game when it gets released.

Thanks... I was toying with the idea of making "Tekken 6" my excuse for buying an Xbox 360, but it sounds like I'll stick with the PlayStation 3 version.

(But I'm detracting from the deal, so I'll leave that discussion for another thread)

BFN,

Yeah, can't wait. I'm hoping BlazBlue gets a UK release on the 360, can't have too many fighting games.

Have a look @ Madcatz Fightpads

http://store.gameshark.net/brand/sfiv.htm

I have both the SF4 arcade stick and a SF4 ken fightpad, but I prefere a pad over a joystick.

Whatever you do don't buy them from here they are far cheaper in other places (just use the search function).

I got the FightStick (http://store.gameshark.net/sfiv/sfiv_fs_xbox.htm), its pretty good but don't really play SF enough to warrant keeping a stick dedicated for it...

Again, if I more point (Microsoft &/or Sony) "Tekken" fans to a previous post of mine:

"Tekken 6 UK release date confirmed - "Hi-ya!" prices"

PS. Certain "download" sites may also have "Tekken - The Movie" available now:
