No it hasn't. You used to need a McDonalds student card (you had to send off for it) and I think they stopped that a couple of years ago. Definitely for the last year there was no free stuff for students. In the past you could blag a free hamburger if you showed them your NUS card but it wasn't their official policy. It appeas that it now is. +ve feedback given.

Not sure if I should give 'Hot' for letting students know they can get a free Maccy D's, or 'Cold' because they'll be stuffing themselves fat with Maccy D's ;)

No it was there official policy, actually, last year they had posters up in all the McDonalds near me telling students about the offers (not store made posters, these were proper McDonalds posters), some McDonalds don't participate and some do but dont offer the free Mcflurry. Also, about the McDonlalds card, it has never been required where I live for at least 3 and a half years, it is like the Virgin Student Card, Virgin always told you to get that for the discount whereas all you actually need is your student card.

That's exactly what I was saying - some places required the McDonalds student card and some would let you get away with NUS (or equivalent) student card. As for the posters being up for the last year... that must have been a local policy because in London they weren't giving free hamburgers / mcflurries to students with a meal. Looks like they have amended their policy and its now nationwide.

No virgin I'd ever been in until recently advertised a student discount and none of the ones I asked in had it. This year they were advertising it in the store here so I got the free student card (by showing my old NUS card). Maybe virgin have started doing that nationally now or the store here as joined the scheme or something.

Similar deal for what I've seen of this McDonalds offer - remember it a few years ago, haven't seen it for a few years (and never tried to blag free McFlurries the couple of times I've been to McDs in the last few years) but this year they're pushing it more.
