Inspired by '70s glam rock, Suede came up with just the shot in the arm that early-'90s English rock needed. They helped usher in the Britpop sound that gave birth to Blur, Oasis, Pulp, and countless others.(Though as cicobuff points out; they are not Britpop. They are more intelligent musicians than that "sound" of the early 90's) Retaining those glam leanings, subsequent Suede records have fully explored the intersection of Mick Ronson with ever increasing power and drive, making them the natural heirs to the crown of David Bowie.

Fantastic band. Fantastic albums.Great price.

Suede were brilliant back in the day, I know they were quite popular but I think they were over shadowed due to the Blur vs Oasis saga, but their albums were just as good!!
#3
Great band until Bernard Butler left.
#4
The best band. Ever!

Fantastic! I'm always a bit wary of these 'double/treble' pack offers though...

Do you actually get the 2/3 albums, each in their own independent jewel case, or are they in a compilation package? I've got quite particular CD storage arrangements you see lol

There seem to be quite a few of these deals around atm? I nearly got the Clash 3 pack a couple of weeks back, but hesitated too long over the packaging issue :-D

From experience you usually get the two CD's in a carboard case. You just throw the cardboard sleeve away.

Dog Man Star is horribly overrated.

Good price though.

Yep, totally right, I bought this in Zavvi just before the stores went pear shaped for this price, and they are just the standard CDs in an outer cardboard sleeve, exactly the same as they would have been at normal retail, same NUDE catalogue numbers.

Heat added Mr Wedge....Suede were so much more than that horrid "Britpop" tag they did not deserve, shame it all went to pot on their final album..was really disappointing considering the quality of output over the years, even with the loss of Butler.

All our ears are different, Dog Man Star is possibly my favourite Suede album, Butlers guitar is amazing on it, and I like the overblown out of proportion pompousness of the strings etc on it, makes for epic mini dramas in a lot of songs.

Britpop they are not.

Wasn't blaming you mate, I knew you had just cut and pasted the article no doubt. Really Britpop was a stupid defined label anyway, look at Pulp...took them years and years to gain moderate commercial success and then what...they get lumped in with that Britpop tag. Definitely as you say the Bowie influence stands out as well as a firm nod towards 70s glam rock.

Brilliant band, and their two best albums too.

Sometimes more than a nod, the one thing they DO have in common with Oasis is that they've both ripped-off T.Rex almost verbatim :-D

as the man said, best band ever. (Beatles apart)
