Needed an enclosure for my 500GB SATA hard drive as I managed to break the old one and came across this. Has both USB 2.0 and eSATA interfaces and includes all the cables and even a screwdriver! The enclosure also has a fan inside, which cheaper models sometimes leave out.

Delivery's expensive as they use a courier service, still cheap though!

Seemed a bargain to me, hopefully be useful to others too.

How is this such a good deal - looks like normal price to me?

Oh, and you missed out the EXTRA £3.99 + VAT DELIVERY!!!!

You don't work for them by any chance do you? (wouldn't be the first time they tried this, lol)

Update: Glad to see you've now changed the title to reflect true cost :-)

Not cheap at all.

Scan offer the same thing for 5p more (normal price) and if you are a member of AV forums, you get free next day courier delivery on a £20 order (so buy two units, or one unit plus another £8 of other stuff and it works out a lot cheaper)

I dont, honest! Just found it for 15.99 at playtrade, turns out this isnt a good deal at all... surely thats a good price for an enclosure with all these features isnt it?! Or am I missing something?

Edit: Thanks for the link cb-uk, think I'll do as you said

Great spec on this enclosure and it does read drives upto 1.5TB okay, however the fans on the two I have owned/used have been incredibly annoying and loud.

I changed over to a Tsunami 3500 dual enclosure (which is infinitely better) and now have one of these gathering dust on the side.

Personally I think these need to be closer to £10 delivered to be a hot deal.

The Tsunami I would recommend if you dont need the eSata - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Tsunami-ULTIMATE-II-3500-2xSATA-JOBD-RED-Black-Green-with-aluminium-material-desgin

I bought 3 of these enclosures (1 for me, 2 for a friend). All 3 stopped working after a few months (2 x PSU failures. 1 x not sure, but the drive was fine).

Avoid.

voted cold.

Waiting for the day that SVP goes out of business!

I have one of these with a 2tb drive and still working fine with no problems... but didn't get it from svp .. plenty of other suppliers out there if you look.

Just read one of the SVP reviews hyper-linked above:

"Used to be quite good then taken over by the Boffer scammers, now useless with the legendary Boffer poor customer service. Worse than Dell Boy, steer clear."

PMSL :-)

Or just save the hassle of making 20 nonsense posts on a forum and buying stuff you don't want and
buy it from Ebuyer instead:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143544

or from Amazon for £15.47 delivered:

EBuyer? Well, maybe if you are happy paying £4.79 + VAT Supersaver delivery, or £9.99 plus VAT next day. Not such a cheap deal now, is it?

Personally, I would rather make my 20 nonsense posts and get free next day delivery (typically around £6.95 plus VAT) for nowt with Scan :-)

For this product Amazon is best as it does include free delivery - Scan doesnt qualify as its under £20 and Ebuyer doesnt qualify as its under £50.

Personally wouldnt buy another one either way though.
