This is the famous Sumvision media player that can play literally any movie files you want.

Please note that this is the new updated version - Cyclone Micro 2+ which is even better than the original Micro 2.

Link To Sumvison site: http://www.sum-vision.co.uk/productinfo/micro2/cyclonemicro2.asp

Scroll down to bottom of link page to play the video that demonstrate this amzing little player.

WHAT'S NEW IN THE SUMVISION CYCLONE MICRO 2 PLUS

It has the latest updated firmware with a better menu system.

Updated remote that is bigger, more responsive with more control features than the original.

Supports DTS and AC3 pass through via coaxial port.

Supports Dolby Digital.

I have both the normal Cyclone Micro2 and this new enhanced Micro2+ and the Plus is a definite improvement on the already brillant Micro2.

£28.95 is the cheapest for the Micro2, never mind the fact that this is actually the newest version so no need to update and run the risk of bricking the unit. It also seems faster with a better menu system when I compared speed side by side.

I have used Impact Computers quite a number of times now over 4 years (they are on ebay with 99.9% rating). Always very fast delivery and excellent customer service and response.

The Cyclone Micro 2 Plus is a vast improvement over the normal Micro 2:

http://www.sum-vision.co.uk/productinfo/micro2/liveing-room2.jpg

It supports more files and the remote is really fast now with no lag in response even when I race thru my vast collection of videos. The menus are also a lot nicer.

Haven't tried the 5.1 Dolby surround sound (HUKD makes me buy so many things I can;t afford a surround sound system :)thru put yet if anybody else can comment whether the sound is also a lot better now.

Can vouch for Impact Computers. Have used them over the years for various PC stuff. Good UK seller and quick repsonse.

Have also used Impact Computer quite a number of times. Good UK seller.

I ordered this yesterday. Their site say 3-5 days delivery and I got it this morning! Can't quite believe how fast it is.

Fantastic service and I can confirm that it is a genuine Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2+, not the cheap copy and fake I got from that other site.

Using the 5.1 Dolby Digital pass through via the new coaxial port right now and its absolutely stunning.

Also, there was a file with compressed head format that my previous Sumvision can't play and this seem to play perfectly. So a definite improvement. Forget the WD TV Live, this plays all the files you can throw at it and the actual picture quality and fidelity is much much better.

I cant find the seller on ebay...they still on there?
#8
How much better is the remote control on this compared to the non plus version?
#9
received today but can't get it working via the av lead. anyone help?
banned#10
Not sure why this is not hotter as it is the cheapest for the Micro2 at the moment and it is a new updated version.

Remember, the upgrade is in hardware so there is no firmware update for the old Micro2 that would give you the new menu system, faster speed, more format support, better physical remote and audio pass through.

I was so sure this would get to be a really good deal for everyone.

Forgot to put the link to the forums for the FAQ and firmware.

hulltigs, you need to make sure your TV select the right AV channel as some TV cannot automatically sense the input. Could be AV1, AV2, AV3. Would probably be a lot easier to use HDMI.

Have some of THAT Cinavia™.
#13
Does anyone have a picture of the digital out? The sumvision site makes no mention of it, only HDMI and composite outs on that. Need to have a coax or optial out.

Click on the Cyclone Micro 2 + right at the bottom of this screen and it should show a PDF file with all the connection at the back:

Remember to click on the plus version not the normal Cyclone Micro2 which is one above it.

Got mine. Disappointed as it doesn't play H264 mov files very well. Stuuters, jumps, sound sync out and doesn't recognise frame rate in display. Auto detect doesn't seem to work. Have changed all settings, cables, hdmi input on tv etc etc an d the same. files are fine as the card plays normally through the camera that recorded them. any ideas anyone please? otherwise its going back. must have been unlucky with this one.

Try running the files off a powered hard drive - I have read comments about bad playback from memory cards and portable hard drives.

thx. will do.
even if that works tho, will be disappointed, as i got this for the portability-'world's smallest'....and so on. don't fancy lugging about my powered drive too!

I thinkl thats the case with all external drives. One USB is not enough current to power the external HDD hence your external HDD must either rely on 2 USB port or have its own power source.

Otherwise file play stutter and desync as the HDD struggle to spin.

However there is no such problems if you put your movies on a flash drive or SD card.

Alternatively get one of these which seems better in all aspects and have its own internal hard drive:

no, the problem is that it wont play h264 and mpegs smoothly on sd card and usb stick. and there are sound sync issues.. i think mine is faulty and am waiting for their reply after asking to send it back.

i was saying above, i don't want to have to play it via an external hard drive. defeats the point of the portability of the unit.

I am using the Micro 2 + right now to view H264 and mpegs via an external 2.5" HDD with no other power source and it is playing absolutely fine.

I have also put the files on the SD card and USB stick just to test it out and again its playing smooth as silk.

I am inclined to think your unit is faulty.

Sumvision media player are famous for playing the largest formats of files even bypassing protection, thats why they are actually more popular than bigger brand names like Asus or WD which seems to keep to legal file standards more rigidly.

So it seems impossible that it will not play popular formats like H264 and mpegs unless it has been compressed / encoded incorrectly or as said before- the unit is faulty.

thx v much for posting that. i have tested, retested etc and they always judder and have sound sync probs. they are the same files that play fine through the camera they were recorded on and the computer.

does it support srt subtitiles?

Yes, support both srt and sub files.

Got some films that are showing up with Chinese and Islamic subs on this player, so I guess it does unicode as well.

I'm having a few troubles with mine - firstly the plug seems to have stopped working (Envisage said to send the plug back and they we send a replacement) and secondly I can't get the 5.1 sound working from either HDMI or coax; everything seems to be downmixed

I'm sure the tracks are not stereo as even the player says there are six channels - is it something I have not setup or is the player faulty as well as the plug?

Cheers

are you trying to get the sound through reciever via TV or directly through a reciever? cos TV normally doesn't give out 5.1 sound.

It's through my amp - can't figure it out??? - has anyone got an mkv or something that on their player plays 5.1 that I could test with; ensuring its not my files?

An update on my problems :) - it was just a user error, I'm sure I had tested using coax and using a file with 5 channels but I obviously had got something wrong as all the ones I expected to have 5 channels do :)

Do you have your Micro 2+ set to output 1080p24hz?
If you have, that might be what is causing the judder/audio sync problem.

Your camera will be recording at 50hz, hence why it's not displaying properly (also happens when you play back files from DVD source).
Try changing output back to 1080p50hz or 1080p60hz to see if that works.

I imagined that devices like these would be pretty poxy. Anyone know a proper decent one that has dvd features like

last play memory
proper x1.4-x1.6 playback
etc etc

thx for this help but i did try every setting. not only did it not stop the juddering but there was no difference to the way it played in any of the settings at all.
i've sent it back and have had an email that they are waiting for the returns dept to test it! i hope this doesn't go pear-shaped with this company. paid thru paypal so hope that helps me if it does.

the irony, for me, is though; i played the same files, on the same card/stick, on theTurn Me On 2 - said to be a cheap copy of the mark2 of this - and it played them perfectly!!

to update my experience.....this company Impact Computers was not great to deal with. they 'tested' my unit first - took them over 2 weeks to acknowledge that my unit was faulty and this was after chasing them up with emails. they say on the site that'll they refund within 7 days of receiving it. had to chase them to find out if they had it first as they and the post office couldn't be bothered to carry out the recorded delivery service that i sent it by.....
finally gave me a refund but did not pay me for the return postage -even tho they state that they will on their website. they ignore emails unless you push them and write to you without giving a name etc.

glad if others had a good experience but i'll never use them again. sounds picky, but when a company doesn't do what it clealry says it will do, when you have a problem, it's just too much hassle.
