How does this thing compare to playing them on the xbox 360 which is how I do it now.

The 360 is an old one so it's quite noisey & I also worry about having it on so long in one go in case it overheats. I thought the 360 downloaded codecs when it needed them how does this handle that problem?

Thanks for any help,
worto.

Shame it doesn't display native HD resolutions. Would be good value then.

Ordered one of these from Scan (free postage), they look very impressive for the money. The reviews I found looked promising. Will let you know what its like when it arrives :)

Searching around on forums it doesn't get a good write up, lots of problems with audio / video sync.

You may as well get an upscaling DVD player with USB/SD port for similar money. As it doesn't have 720p/1080p support it's pretty pointless IMO.

sounds like one to skip for me - thanks for all the info - I'll keep my eye out for something else.

no rush - I'm skint at the mo anyway!

You sure? That was for the Sumvision larger player from what I read, not this adapter. Please post link as when I searched, I found nothing on the micro adapter about sync issues.

Where? :) Not interested in SD as I want to connect an external HD to it.

That the point - it's not HD. it only outputs in 480p/576i - any HD videos on your external HDD will not play on this.

So a similar unit with a DVD drive too is about £30. This one: http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/2725089/art/biostek/xc-130-dvd-divx-player.html?srcid=867 is about £32 with p&p but I'm sure there's others.

Not interested in HD, my divX's are 720x576 (DVD's).

That is an awesome player for the money. :) Thanks! Away to order one now!

Hmmm.... £9 delivery seems steep

BIGTAGS i love your message great comment, heres a link for this player http://www.sum-vision.co.uk/producti...lonemicro.html will also make comment that i bought a mp3 player from this company and its interface was awful and trhe build quality was awful to the point that it broke in 3 weeks funny thing was they could not repair and i got refunded for the item.

I think this is a fantastic deal. DVD's are dead, this answers a need I had for a device that would just play movies from USB Flash Memory. Now I can buy these for the family and just share USB Sticks around with them. No more burning hassles.

The lack of HD is also true of the version of this that has a DVD player but it upscales well. HD has a been a big let down for me, it's hardly worth downloading HD because of the size. Bluray is too expensive, and the whole optical media market is on its way out anyway.
