I bought this from ebuyer for £35 about 2 weeks' ago. This was the price for a long time. Then they put the price up to £40 soon after I bought it. So you are paying now £35 which is the same price as what it was before 2 weeks' ago! At £35 it is a good normal deal though but not a "deal of the day".
Here was my order details on 3rd Nov 2007 as a proof:-

Qty Item Price
1 Sumvision DVD HDMI Upscaler Black + DivX - Sumvision DVD HDMI Upscaler Black + DivX £35.24
and I also used the Google checkout offer too:-
Google Checkout £10 Bonus - £10 off orders over £30 before shipping. Limit 1 per new Google Checkout buyer.

Here is my opinion of this machine, as posted on the AV Forum back in July:

14th July - I've just bought this machine today from Scan for £35.19 and have been playing with it. To get the USB to work you have to use the "Goto" button on the remote and this should bring up the USB (Same for the card reader). At the moment I find it will play for a while and then freeze and "Unsupported USB" comes up. Also I haven't yet been able to get a DVD that I've burnt onto a Sony -RW, using Winavi and Nero, to play, or by simply copying an .avi movie as a DVD data file. But it's still early days yet.

16th July - Given up with this machine. Took it back this morning and got a replacement and this is just the same. It can't play from my brand new 2GB Memorex Travel Drive flash pen, for more than 40 seconds and totally refuses to recognise my Sony DVD -RW's.
So this is of no use to me. Maybe it's a compatability issue with the pen, but there is no way of finding out, as there are no contact anywhere for Sumvision.
Think I'll go for the Philips DVP 5960.

19th July - Just if anyone is interested. Bought the Philps DVP5960 from Curry's for £49.50 (price matched Comet), today. Amazon do it for £39.99 (4-6 weeks delivery) and Dixons are £39.99 +£3.95 P&P. After my problems with the Sumvision, it's always better to buy where you can take it back in person, I think.
Anyway, first impressions are very good. It plays all the DivX and Xvid files from my flash pen and also from my DVDRW discs. So just what I wanted.
Forget the Sumvision.

Just my opinion, but I'd pay the extra and get a Philips if you want to play avi's etc.

I've heard good things about the Sumvision Phoenix (which they don't sell any more), but bad things about the Sumvision Lynx (this one). Pretty much the same as the previous poster. Plus apparently it doesn't upscale past 576 on HDMI :(

(But I may be wrong, as I haven't had one).

Have to agree. The Philips is much better apart from the terribly designed remote control.

Does this have 2 USB ports, sorry if i missed it.

I bought this a month ago. Disappointed that the picture through the scart is better than through HDMI cable. And the remote is terrible.
It has 1 usb port which plays episodes of Heroes very well - in sync with minimal pixellation. This is mainly what I bought it for.
Overall pleased with it, however when playing some bought DVDs it sticks on the root menu and doesn't allow you to play the movie!

Any help on this would be appreciated.

stay away from this dvd player, it will be the worst purchase that you will have made this year... purley for the picture quality...it is dire...so blocky it feels like you are playing tetris...

As mentioned earlier if you want an upscaler go for the philips dvp5960. Upscales to 1080i and divx playback is superb. a little dearer at £50 but you get what you pay for!

Sounds like a lot of people aren't having a lot of luck with it.

Personally I think it's a brilliant piece of kit, I only paid £30 for it. It's played everything i've thrown at it:

Pictures, films, mp3s, all when there on the same disk as well. SD card works really well for me.
Only problem I have with it is the dvd drawer is very flimsy and is just waiting to break.

But now it's £40 i'd go with a better known brand.

I was thinking of getting one of these as reviews I have seen so far have been outstanding.
I have been trying to get one for around £30 including delivery but everywhere is charging around £7-£10 del.
Big Pockets had a 99p dely offer on last weekend but I missed it. Rang them to haggle but wouldn't have it. :x
What people are saying on here has put me off now slightly.
For anyone who is interested it is available still at a few places.

Got to agree waste of cash, spend a bit more and get a better quality machine!!!
Picture quality is just plain awful blocky as mentioned and dvd play back through HDMi is waste of time.
Im sending mine back.
