Very nice little player but poor battery life

The pictures do not prepare you for how small this player really is, which is around 3in x 2in and half an inch thick. The few controls it does have are context dependent, serving different purposes depending on what you are doing at the moment. For example, the up/down navigation buttons act as volume controls when playing a video or audio file.

Sound and screen quality are both very good, although I have not used the supplied earphones. It has a built in speaker and mic but does not have a hold button to disable keys when in your pocket. What it does have instead is an on/off switch which does exactly what it says, so put this in your pocket when playing and there is every chance one of the buttons will get pressed by accident.

It comes supplied with a video conversion utility which converts video files to the required flavour of mp4 at 224 x 176 pixels.

The only real disappointment and it is a real killer for a portable device, is the battery life, which is dire. When I use it through a cassette adaptor in my car stereo it lasts for no more than an hour from a full charge. Strangely, using the built in speaker, I had it playing for a good couple of hours and I estimate there would have been another half hour playing time. This is just for music. Watching videos would probably reduce this time dramatically. I have not used it through headphones yet so I cannot comment on that, but such a poor battery performance really limits its usefulness as a portable player.

You can also have this in "iPod white" if you want

Battery life on these seems fairly random - I've seen reviews where 5 hours of video viewing have been regularly achieved. I have a Sumvisin Kpac, same basic device, proper avi player, but slightly different design and a 2.2" screen. It lasts 4-5 hours/2 movies easily and the screen quality is amazing.
Best place to buy Kpac is Saverstore with google checkout discount and free delivery, 2gb (+ SD slot) worked out at £32 delivered

Nice looking piece of kit!

Does anyone know whether you can copy files from the SD card slot onto the internal memory from the device itself?

If so, looks ideal for storing photos while on the move...

screen is toooo small, way too small. the min viewing is 4.5" at least

- very unlikely I'm afraid.

eh? That would therefore dismiss 99% of all mp4/avi/amv/mtv players, all movie iPods, all mob phones and probably most PDA - and thus anything truly portable.
