Damn! £4.79 shipping.
#2
price should include delivery though. I want one of these, but for £20 I could put that towards an external hard drive and sell my 3.5" SATA that I want to use.

I just got a similar thing off fleabay (took a chance from China) cost me £24.90 incl del , but are more expensive now
Works real well and can take SATA and IDE and has card readers too

i bought something similar that does the same off ebay for about £5 delivered. Its a messier solution than this as there is no dock, but it has all the cables for Sata / IDE 3.5 and 2.5 inch drives.

This has a dock, (which makes it nice and neat) and also a card reader, but no IDE, which is a downer.

Mind sharing the item number please?

Be careful, that auction doesn't include the mains adaptor. It's well worth getting as otherwise you need to open up the PC to get power to the drive.

I've noticed this before with this type of product & eBay, if you buy from China (e.g. Hong Kong) you get all the bits but it takes 2½ week delivery, if you buy from the UK delivery is fast but the optional parts that make it dead easy to use are missing. Also, iIf buying from China make sure that the power cord has a UK plug.

I'd be interested to know that too, from experience they don't support IDE (probably because IDE dosn't like hotswapping???!) but I have over 1tb of IDE's that are still perfectly good for MP3 backups etc?!?!

I bought an external case on ebay for £4.95 + £4.99 p&p.
3.5" HDD External Case - USB2 - ATA.
Just checked and still on sale.
Seller is "maxtoptech". UK company and fast delivery.
As said, good for backups and keeping music etc.
Been using it for 9 months + and happy with purchase.

Good for small capacity hard drives but to transfer large files over usb would take ages! For a fiver more you can get a caddy that supports esata as well as usb. Check on amazon

You can get IDE ones, but you put the HDD in before booting the PC.

Nope, with the IDE hard drive caddies you put the harddisk in before you plug it into the PC via USB. So you can boot without the USB cable plugged in.

Recieved this morning had a quick look and its quite a chunky looking thing!
Ive not had a chance to use it but there isnt a bracket for 2.5 inch drives so not shure how it will stay in securely. 3.5 inch drives just plonk in no problem
