Not just for animals?

Looks like a good thing for the beach and not just for animals!

ice.

Looks ridiculous - and pretty useless, considering the lack of real sun - and the amount of wind in this country. It's a bit of extended spin to claim it would help prevent skin cancer.

people really go to the beach to lie in a tent?

As an alternative to this product, just pop your pet into a large Argos carrier bag!

I went to Boscombe beach last weekend. Loads of people with these stupid things, really annoying to be behind.

You will appriciate this when you will have a baby :) In the shadow the chance of getting cancer is minimal, isn't it?

You need the sun for vitamin D.

It's just scaremongering and you seem to have fallen ill to it. As has been said, Vitamin D is pretty vital to keep your body in good balance so soak it up when ever you can!

I'd say it would help...gotta be better than lying out baking.

I'm stunned by the responses to this. Only one sensible answer from Lemon2. These things are great for kids just to be out of the direct sunlight to be a little cooler if nothing else.

Haha yeah right - very good since this is obviously made of UV protection material..... NOT
#13
These are great for fishing though

We have used one for the last couple of years with the kids - great for a little shade and as a wind break. Bargain at this price as they'll be double the price at the beach...

I wouldnt expect an adult to be in it, but this is great for thos of us with babies. Heat added.

For those worried about their kids then please buy a UV resiatant shelter. These will not stop you burning

I find a good UV suit and decent hat with suncream much more efficient so the little ones can run around without worrying as much

For those saying sunlight is good for vit D levels then yes of course it is in moderation. UVA and UVB damage to the skin in future years is however not so good. A decent parasol will probably provide more protection than these cheap mini tents

Hmmm...so are t shirts 'UV resistant'?...can't see many labelled as resistant but they do the job. Surely, these will offer shade and therefore reduce UV? What about standing under a tree? Do they have a 'UV resistant' label?

Sit in one of these cheap tents and look up at the sun and you will get your answer. Sit under a big tree and try and see the sun, you will also then get your answer. Of course full shade gives you some protection

Presumably you have heard of getting burnt in wamer climates even when its a cloudy day though (ie shade)

Any (almost) physical barrier will probably reduce UV exposure but these cheaper polyester tents do not offer full shade as you will see if you sit in one. You also get very hot inside these - a decent parasol will offer much better protection as I said, as the UVB rays that cause the burning will not be able to penetrate a thicker barrier
