Yeah I tried to get them to waive this but they said no. Even more irritating because I was supposed to get a deal with free sports and movies for 3 months when I signed up and they never gave it to me and then said I had never been offered it and had to pay. And still they will do nothing for me after 2 years.

£60 for delivering a box and plugging in two cables (Assuming you have Sky + already) !!!

Until the box and instal are both free I won't be getting one.

Go through cancellations and say Virgin offer it all free and they may well budge.

Still HOT tho. I would be a new customer and I called about this same deal last week. Then they wanted £90 for the HD box and installation even tho I have a Dish up already. They wouldn't budge so I just bought a FreeSat box instead. More fool them, now they are missing out on £44 a month from me.

so for existing customers you need to take multiroom, so that's £10 for multiroom AND £10 for hd subscription, thats before any channel subscription!

minimum subscription would be around £38/month!

anyone verify this?
#7
Nothing will ever make me return to sky. Just not worth it. I am not into sports, the movies they have I have already seen and anything available on sky one can be found elsewhere usually before it is aired and all the rest is cack.

I will stick to freeview:thumbsup:

Saying all that it is a good deal if you want hd and are a new customer:-D

not if u take out multi room depends if u want to or not

Not really HOT from me as an existing customer - £60 for install and then an extra £10 a month for the HD pack, or rather £20 as I'll need to take multiroom - which i just don't need.

They're launching their 3D service very shortly, wait for that and then no doubt the standard HD servces will be free

Good for new new customers though!

I had an installation booked for tomorrow morning.. Just cancelled it, had my £79 refunded to my card, and rebooked it for free for Tuesday morning.. Mwaaahaha!

Anyone out there with a SKY HD box. Did you know you can receive ITV HD through the SKY HD Box and it is NOT limited to Freeview users ? If you Google 'ITV HD on SKY' you can find very straightforward instructions on how to set it up. It's simple and it works fine.

Already got multiroom, all I want is to swap my box upstairs for an HD one, £60 + another £10 month, no way, already paying them over £60 a month, but they don't see this:roll:

Although 2 years sounds a long time.... in terms of sky subscriptions it isn't..

I have been with them since December 1998 and they don't show me any more loyalty..:?

Yes, that's what it tells you in the striaghtforward instructions !!!!

I was offered ESPN for 4.50 a month, non contract for my 10 year anniversary with them. Hardly the deal of the century and can't see why I want to watch another channel of sub par and second rate sporting events!!

I'm sure Multi-room also gives you free Sky Player access for all channels as well

Even 17years gets you knowhere:x

are there channels you get on hd you dont get on normal sky?
or is it just £10 extra a month for a better picture?
#23
You have to pay the £10 a month subs to receive them, around 30 channels.

I have just cancelled after at least 15 years, when I called at xmas to see if they could reduce my £50 plus a month fee they were not interested.........I have also done the recommend a friend and not got the M & S vouchers, we both rang and rang...............we now use our boxes as freesat, although they are so crafty, the pause function on the box is disabled once the subscription ends.

They're just HD versions of channels already showing (and even some of the HD channels are often in SD).
#27

#28

Read post 25 first, I'm not the only one.....several people at work did the recommend a friend, not one of us got our vouchers and we all rang and rang and rang.......

If you call up when you upgrade and ask for the self install option you can get this for £30.
Please note that this option is only available if you currently have Sky + (Because of the required 2 cable feeds)
#34
Before Christmas my Sky box stopped decoding the encrypted channels. The free to view ones were fine.Seemed obvious to me that it was the card, but despite several calls Sky wouldn't have it and persuaded my to buy a new box (with a new 12mnth tie-in). When it arrived it had exactly the same problem. Installer immediately said the card was faulty. Sky don't seem interested in sorting this matter out hence I'll be dumping them as soon as my tie-in ends. I'm happy to tell everybody what poor service Sky gave me and I'd never recommend anybody takes out a subscription.

I have sky+ and would like to get a HD box, but not the subscription to HD. Is the switch as easy as taking one box out and put one box in, or do you need to do something else?? also do all the new boxes come with the new EPG?

Does the box get sent or do they bring it..... as I would like to bung the sky installer a few quid and get him to put are sky+ box in our bedroom as a freeview box!!!!:-D when they did our sky+ in our old house, they said that they would do it for £30, but i was too cheap, but I am sick of losing signal on our crappy freeview box because of the aerial.
#38
I dropped Sky long ago. And haven't look back since. These HD boxes were expensive on launch. Now free, but the sub costs are prohibitive (it will be free to sub to HD eventually in a few years I predict). But the main thing is that the box belongs to you - you have to pay to fix it if it goes wrong just so you can receive their service (I would love to listen into your call after 13 months, 1 month outside of warranty - "excuse me Sky, but my box stopped working and it's just out of warranty" - wahahaha). And the box can't do what it's intended to do very well in my personal viewpoint. The HDD is incredibly small and can't record many hours of HD video. Mark my words, but the next gen Sky HD boxes will have much bigger HDDs.

Just threaten to cancel and they will send an engineer out, worked for loads of people.

I totally agree,I don't miss the hassle and stress of having to deal with SKY, they are as useless as Virgin........god bless freeview :)

This deal is hot for those willing to sign up for 12 months :p
