£20 for the original 4 nes (snes) games? this some kind of joke? very cold
if it included all the newer mario games or something, maybe..
#3
Classic stuff but a tad steep at £20! What the hell is the RRP?

Plus a dvd and a booklet, a collectors item more than anything.

i still have my old snes, its in my 5yr olds playroom, he loves all the mario games and goes between that and the wii so i have this game still on the snes i would still buy it for the wii tho, be great fun and thats all that matters.

Pre-ordered! Love Super Mario All-Stars, shame they didn't throw in Super Mario World though like the later releases did.
#7
I could buy a snes and the game for that or less.

you could that goes without saying but its great family fun all the same. looking forward to it.

It was £49.99 when it first came out... and even though it is £30 cheaper and has a book and DVD thrown in - I still feel this is a bit of a rip off.

Collector's item maybe - but as stated above, you're probably better off going down to your local cash converters and getting the whole proper retro kit and kaboodle..

GameStation have a reward card now, free to open instore at the moment.

This was my first SNES game back in the early 90's as it came with my SNES, I thought it was amazing back then and I still think the graphics look good. I do also think that £20 for 4 Virtual Console games is a bit steep with a collector's DVD but it depends on how many they make really. It would also help if it had a picture of the cover art at least.

Pity, if it had Mario World too it'd be a great price.

Super Mario World for the SNES is still one of the greatest games of all time!

...you can get that as a download for the Wii can't you? ...anyone done it and how well does it convert to the Wii??

this isnt the same 'mario all-stars' i had on the snes then as that included super mario world. its ridiculous releasing this without including that, the best one.

Judging by that nintendo link this isn't even the updated SNES versions of the games, just the original NES ones. In my opinion the SNES ones look and sound a heck of a lot better.

You know, I'd not even noticed that. Not once do they mention that it's the updated (and imo vastly superior) versions from the SNES.

Here's a Kotaku link which mentions they're the updated version:

http://kotaku.com/5657879/marios-25th-anniversary-box-set-heads-for-europe

Not sure why NOE didn't mention it.

duh. All-Stars was a SNES release. so of course this is the SNES version. it was one of the SNES bundles (the one i had, and stupidly sold). there was no NES release of All-Stars, and Lost Levels was Jap only AFAIK.

and they're (were) great games. my problem is Nintendo is taking the **** asking for more than about.... a fiver for this.

I have the original snes cartridge.... I also have an emulator on my phone to play this. The wii is gash now, have not played mine for 2 years. Get a PS3 and Move. Far superior even tho there are not so many games yet!

foxxes, is "lmoa" a kind of bird, and what's your point?

good to see others agree this is poor value. i know you're supposed to rate things based on lowest price for that item, but you have to draw the line somewhere..

yes you can play this on any SNES emulator, on a PC with a SNES to USB converter, even on your Wii with Snes9gx and even there with SNES pads if you have the adapter for that..

lol, which by the way means laugh out loud or lots of laughs.
lmao is laugh my ar*e off.
my point was the previous posters where not referring to a mario all-stars game on the nes but whether the games on this version would include the updated versions of mario 1,2 etc..which appeared on the snes mario all-stars.

But then it's also not been 25 years since the Japanese release of Super Mario All-Stars. It's 25 years since the NES release of Super Mario Bros. So I still think the clarity would have been nice.

That is far too awesome. Time for some googling to find one me thinks.

EDIT: Too many pins for a NES controller. Probably requires a 'replica' NES controller with a 9-pin port. Still awesome though!

Hadn't thought of that but to my mind that means this will definately be the original NES versions.

Looks to me like a Megadrive controller port? Which would be pretty sweet anyway. One on ebay at £11.49 which is tempting, always wanted one of those club nintendo Super Famicom controllers but this is much cheaper!
#26
yes it's a 'clone NES' controller port unfortunately. several other systems also use DB-9 (DE9). electrically compatible with the oficial NES if you change the socket.
the SNES part matches official UK SNES controllers though.

feel free to rep my post, however that works now :p

There were two different versions, the one which included mario world was buggy as hell and kept locking my SNES up. Remember returning it and getting Toy Story instead (which was an ace platformer).

Downloaded Mario 3 for the Wii when I first got the console, seemed a waste of time because it wasn't the improved SNES version, this kinda proves it.

Played through em all so much that I think i'll give this a miss which is a shame, but they're better suited to handhelds nowadays.
