Saw this today (21st) in the Argyle Street, Glasgow store. Only took note of it as I know a Mario-mad collector who is always looking out for unusual Mario items. Think they might be a World Cup promo?

I didn't take a picture in the store but I found a few online pictures, added in the next post.

Edit: Added pictures today (22nd) on post #23: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/super-mario-football-keychain-figures-1-poundworld-1958406?page=2#post22357708

Looks like it's Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Princess figures available, wearing different teams' strips.

There were only Princess Peach and Yoshi left in my store, not sure who is in the full collection, took me a while to find accurate pictures of the items!

I cant see any kind of Nintendo logo on them. I expect Ashens will review these soon..

I must admit I didn't inspect the packaging that closely. I'll make a point of taking a proper picture, front and back, tomorrow. Not of me, of the Super Mario figures :p

Look a bit crap though don't they?

I thought these were Mario Strikers Charged (Wii) edition characters, they seem to be 2010 South African World Cup figurines instead. Still good though.

These are 2014 Brazil figures judging by the logo. So even better.

I seen some similar to this but not football themed in hmv today for £4.99.

Those are like half of the Nintendo games section now in the HMVs I have visited in the past few months. Those ones will be official for sure while these are somewhat more dubious origins (poundshops carry all kind of rip-offs) which I'm guessing are modifications of old Mario Striker ones to be World cup 2014. From the photos they don't look any worse than the McDonalds happy meal toys from a few months back.

Went to poundworld but only had yoshi and peach.

Picked them up for my son....

Went in and got them today, took a photo. In my local store, it may look as if they don't have any, but they're obscured by toy cheerleader pom-pom tassles :p

These looks so dodgy and illegal lol!
'Five team with six motion'. There must be some Nigerian prince in need of aid somewhere close by with that grammar!

As they're foreign imports, that may be why, but maybe someone with more knowledge than I of Mario merchandise might chime in.

From Starwolf_UK's comment earlier, it's looking as though they may be unofficial merchandise? No harm done for £1 though, they look pretty well made to me (and I have all sorts of action figures) :)

They're definitely unofficial from the lack of a Nintendo logo or Seal of Approval and bad English lol

D'oh! It makes sense that Mario merchandise would have the Official Nintendo Seal Of Approval (like the games, etc) and I didn't think Poundworld sold unofficial items such as these. Hopefully it'll make some people happy anyway :)

Only yoshi was in stock. Wanted one of the peaches for my girlfriend. Other stores are just to far to travel too. :/

These look so fake!

How do they look fake exactly? Is it because you haven't seen them before that makes you automatically think it's fake?

Just to clear confusion there are 5 different teams for each figure and there are 4 figures: Mario Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Peach and there's 6 poses for each of the figures that makes 120 to get and it says on the packet collect them all! Ha

Having a look on alibaba I managed to find variants with no packaging but a paper tag at the top of the keyring bit (in various forms including Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games but using Mario Party art) oh and a Luigi painted as Mario (long face of Luigi but wearing red M cap) which is a classic sign of fake :(

I was able to confirm 6 poses exist though for the characters (if we count Mario & Luigi as 1). Given how poor the English is on the back of these I honestly have to wonder, what is the Japanese like?

There are 5 poses shown on the back so the 6th might be some sort of "rare" one? Also there hare 5 characters, Luigi seems to be half of the Mario poses :P The 6th pose for Mario (not on box) seems to be that Luigi with red M cap one so hopefully they dropped it from this set.

Missed opportunity to change the Yoshi colours for teams I feel.

I think the teams are England, China, Brazil, Argentina and Italy.

Looks like you haven't read any of the cooments. They are clearly fake, the mould of the figures are off, the packaging is off and the only World Cup branded Nintendo items were Pokemon because they were the official sponsor of the Japanese team.
