I bought one of these a few weeks back, works great on Windows 7, but a pain in the ass to get to work on Vista, you only get the dongle as well, no drivers, so if you can not get it t work on vista the drivers are on this forum:-

I have one working on Vista, paid about the same price on e-bay. It works fine but its a bit fiddly - you have to actually click to tell the dongle that you want to send or receive something, it doesnt just accept automatically like another more expensive dongle I have which isnt compatible with Vista. Worth the fiddling for the price I recon, once you've worked it out its simple enough :) HOT!

I seem to have all these settings ticked in the 'Options' yet it still wants me to do this lol. As I say, for this price I dont mind a teeny bit of fiddling

I bought some of these from the bay 260527162440, $1.38. Quick delivery and they have CSR chipset.

I haven't any problem form the DX ones but these ones from the bay are even cheaper.

Most dealextreme offers are available locally for the same price or even cheaper. Makes you wonder who is posting them, LOL.

Available everywhere locally for similar price, nothing new or deal-wise.

Quotes from Product Forum
"Its a lucky draw out of 2 dongles.
50% chance youll get 1 that works how it should
50% chance that the dongle will only be able to communicate with other BT computer devices. "

"2 MUCH MUCH BETTER ALTERNATIVES
sku.16229 $3.53
sku.14255 $3.70 "

Better off going for a eBay one. I ordered 3 of these in the past. Only 1 has worked as it should. 1 didn't work at all and the other worked just not with mobile phones.

You shouldn't need anything to get wifi from wireless router to 5800

on your phone try menu>settings>connectivity>wireless WLAN

it should then list available networks, select yours and stick in your password if your connection is protected.

You could use this to send files via bluetooth from your phone to your computer if that doesn't have it built in.
Or use the 5800 as a modem with a laptop when you are away from your wi fi.

omh how many times will we see this

Yes Ebay or try Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001MG8QH0/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0000AL2KD&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=13RRJJWNSZH3SV3W05BH

Its a basic value range...works ok on most..but can be hit and miss...Dealextreme can take up to a month as it ships from china :)

Depends on what you want it for....Always check what’s gona be compatible with your connecting device... otherwise always worth spending a bit more on something like this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Bluetooth-plus-Adapter-range/dp/B001BRV7JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266171411&sr=1-1

Had it been other posters that might have been the case.

I have had one working with 32 bit Win 7 natively, but it is now working with the Toshiba Bluetooth stack too.

It works on 64 bit with the Toshiba Stack, but haven't tried it with the 64 bit native stack.

How rude.
Its sold from Hong Kong, which if YOU had any brains you would know is not China. Its a Special Administrative Region.
Plus its 40p cheaper. If you don't want it yesterday, why pay 40p more than you need to?
Voted HOT.

indeed..if you ok with JUST THE LOW price...and not too worried about reputation - Goods may be fake, item not received or takes too long or does not work...you dont have any consumer rights!

Low Price - High Risk :)

Have you tried it on any other OS's / Machines?? Different USB ports etc?

You may have a totally faulty one, a lot of people who buy this one have problems. DOn't know how it ends up being so hot on this site.

True,

ive used em too for many years and spent over $40,000 in 2 years importing not from dealextreme but china :-) we find alot of duds though :-) we used to wholesale from both DX an focal, but focals failure rate was about 58% of items - total LOSS.

Average person would generally get ripped off as they have to pay all return costs for dodgey items and you have to meet that cost both ways.... generally more than the item cost. make an informed decision.

then again if you can afford the cost....then go for it

Informed decision?
It's about a quid we are talking about here, not $40,000 - I can pull my hand out of my pocket and lose more! I never thought I was one for being an adrenaline junkie, but it seems I am a real risk taker! :whistling:

Only item I have had faulty from DE was just replaced, they just sent me another. Some risk.
I don't buy expensive kit abroad AT ALL, but something like this worth coppers, well, even I can cope with the endorphin rush of that one!
