Want some old school Mario but can't pony up the dough for New Super Mario Bros Wii? Super Paper Mario might just fill that platforming gap at a steal. You know the deal - cross the excellent Mario RPG series with the classic side on scrolling of the Super Mario Brothers series, with a dash of dimensional jiggery pokery and you get the sorely underappreciated Super Paper Mario.

Not half as good as the Gamecube Paper Mario game, but nice cheap price so voted hot.

Super Mario Bros for £23 looks very good as well

paper mario is not a platformer, it's a rpg. not as hardcore as final fantasy and the like or even likes of fallout 3 etc but it's still a rpg.

By far the least fun Paper Mario game. I saw it through to the end, but only out of principle.

There's only one funny bit in the entire game (the bit with the chameleon) - the rest is just... ugh...

I brought this before downloading the gamecube version. I prefer the GC one, but for £11 this is well worth a play through for the money.

Heat added.

You say you downloaded the GC game. Was this on a hacked Wii, or are they now doing GC downloads on Virtual Console? (I haven't owned a Wii for 2 years, but have bought an new one for my kids christmas).

Er now you have got me thinking, I downloaded a Paper Mario title on Virtual conso, not hacked, and it was totally different to the Wii specific title. I assumed it was GC as it was not titled with the obligatory '64' like all Mario N64 titles.

I will have a look tonite and let you know for sure. I would recommend both of them though kept me entertained enough. I would think if you were a real hardened Mario person they might not be your cup of tea, but I like the variation on the gameplay.

That'll just be the N64 game. I've played them all.

Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door (GC) > Paper Mario (N64) > Super Paper Mario (Wii)
