Get the GameCube controller. It's the only way to properly play Smash Wii U.

The other controllers just don't do any justice.

If you'd like to get rid of it, CEX are offering £29.99 cash at the moment. You could get Captain Toad instead.

The online lag is horrendous. Flicking a comic book would have had a quicker frame rate at times.

I actually traded my copy in Granger Games for a new copy of Captain Toad. They price matched CEX making it a straight swap. Captain Toad is much more enjoyable to play in my opinion.

Whether the wired (usable via the official GameCube adapter or Mayflash's wired GameCube adapter) are both ideal for Smash Wii U than the rest. However, if you were to get a wireless GameCube then go with Hori's their controllers are of much higher quality than PDP's (plus they don't have fake analogue triggers that are just digital triggers).

I tried playing Smash Wii U with my Wii U Pro Controller and the whole layout just felt unnatural for the game.

Had to vote this cold as my Sainsburys on the IOW had one of these with a £29 sticker and another for £32.99. Found it quite strange that it would be marked differently.

The basic console with Smash Bros was also £179.99. I did not want to post these as I did not want to set the geese free.

Shopto same price £31.85

You could get a Wavebird controller, it's the same layout as a Gamecube controller and official just a little bit bigger.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5b/WaveBird_and_receiver.png
The problem is getting a gamecube controller adapter, the only option is to buy one from the resellers at stupidly high prices or wait until Nintendo make more.

The Wii U subreddit had links up for a knockoff version of the official adapter the other week. Should function exactly the same way. I don't have a link, sadly. But, I do remember reading it and seeing the item on Amazon.com.
