Supermarket Malt Whisky Round-up £20.00

So, after seeing a few spirit deals on here I had a quick look on my supermarket and thought id round-up the best of the malt whisky deals. It isn’t an exhaustive list but I have just listed the whiskies with the best discounts. I have listed them in the following format

Name / volume / was price / (price at the whisky exchange for comparison) / current price.

Obviously if you don’t live near London bridge you would also have to add postage to TWE price, and I generally find that they are more expensive in-store, even if it isn’t a “web exclusive price”........which may of the below are.

Hope it helps someone!

ASDA

Isle of Jura Single 10 Year Old Malt Whisky (700ml) £27.97 (£21.95) £20.00

Tesco had Johnny Walker Green Label reduced to £20.80 last week - a fine blend of four 15 year old malts.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the normal
Jura 10 year old and the Jura Superstition? Superb post as well by the way! Don't forget the £2 coupon that is doing the rounds on an earlier Glenfiddich post.
#20
I bow down to you sir, now I must make a list . . .

Awesome post. Nice one.

Some additional deal potentials can be found on ocado. There are some really nice whiskies on offer at the moment, talisker distillers edition 39.30, aberlour A'bunadh 28.15, aberlour 16yo 26.55. Among others! Plus combi buying with one of their first time buyers vouchers makes things even cheaper! ;)

The superstition is lightly peated. The 10yo is very light and honey/floral, where supstition has a little more complexity and peat. Honestly haven't tasted the superstition yet. The first bottle of 10yo I had a few years back was marvellous, lovely and light, very more ish. The bottle I opened 2 months ago was very disappointing. Has quite a tequila like smell to it. Nothing like I remember. So, I can only guess the 10yo can be a little hit and miss!

Talisker at £20 a bottle is great because its usually on sale for £25 and its regular price is like £30-33.
Glenfiddich 14? i didn't know they did a 14 year old, i know the 12, 15 and 21 year old versions.
Isle of Jura Superstition is made up of different ages of Jura, so its different to a regular 10 year old.

Hats off, that's a hot list of whisky.

Great stuff.

I agree. The Superstition has a bit of smoke to it and is a bargain at £20.00

I had a bottle of Superstition last year. A bit too peaty for my taste. I've yet to have a dodgy Original, but I'll take your point. I had a bottle of Original back in June and it was mighty tasty.

Interestingly, I had a bottle of Glenmorangie about a month ago and I wasn't as impressed as I normally am.

Cheers for the info everyone. I've bought a 10 year old Jura. Saving it for xmas though cos if i open it now and love it it'll be gone well before xmas.

Asda has Old Pulteney at £20 too

I don't like whisky but heat added for the effort.

Immensely good price for the Glenmorangie. Recommend it, picking up a bottle or two as christmas gifts.

Thanks guys, thought it might be worth a look. Ive only tried a few of these, I usually stick to the very peaty malts, lagavulin, ardberg and the likes, thought I might widen my horizons a little. Bought a bottle of the aberlour when on offer last week. Wasn’t a fan. Did have a lovely salty caol ila awhile back but cant remember which one it was!

Anyway, birthday tomorrow and a bottle of superstition and talisker to treat I think!

(original talisker thread HERE, and the reason i made this thread so thanks to toneer)
