16GB SuperTalent ST3U16EDB USB 3.0 Express DUO, Read 67 (MB/s), Write 23 (MB/s)

Faster than recent batch of cheap USB sticks. USB 3 interface (fully backward compatible with USB 2 although you will not get same speeds).
I have not seen figures for USB 2 speeds with this item.

Delivery £4.69 or free if you qualify.

Please do not compare with the recent batch of USB 2 items. The speed when used with a USB 3 port is 3-4 times faster with these.

Deal on USB 3 PCIe expansion card can be found here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/transcend-usb-3-0-expansion-card-13/784246

writes a bit slow for usb 3

If you want faster devices, scan have a selection: http://www.scan.co.uk/Shop/Computer-Hardware/All/USB-Pendrives/USB-30

Speeds up to R240 / W184 but these get very expensive!

Not currently available, so not really a deal, is it?

And even when it is available, £40 or so (with the usb 3 card) i.e. over double the cost of other decently fast usb 2 drives, just doesn't look like much of a deal to me, unless you are an absolutely manic speed-freak, sorry.

It's going to be hot when available at these prices for brand new kit. Think the 8 gig one is only about £11

I'm impressed with the pricing of the usb 3 kit so far, I did think prices were going to be bloated to start and then drop over year, but I think they have launched the kit at the right price level.

Should go perfectly with the £13 usb 3 upgrade card I installed last week:

No date for the 8GB version yet but as you say, competitively priced. Glad you included the link to the card as it does not work from the original post.

Agree that the 8GB version, if its around £11 looks a lot more promising - I'd vote that one hot!

I can highly recommend SuperTalent USB pendrives, I've had one for about 2 year with no problems ... its blindingly fast.

I was going to post this, but apparently this is actually the rough RRP, so will probably be the same price most places when released...

Finally in stock today (nearly 2 weeks late). Prices have changed slightly:
8GB £10.81 + del.
16GB £25.83 + del.

Interested to hear anyones experience for speed of these devices when used with USB2 and USB3 interfaces.

I was going to buy 1 of the 8gb usb3 ones but need to buy other things to get free delivery.

Edit...Should have mine tomorrow with an express 34 card as well so I can test on one of the laptops (see if that combo works at decent speeds) will test on my PC with addon usb3 card to get a better indication of speed.

I got mine today after DPD delivered it with their horse and cart

Speeds are not as good advertised eg 67 meg and 23 meg for usb3 (R/W) read is 53- 55 meg on usb3 and write 15.3 - 17.5 meg on usb3

However for usb2 the results are much better than I expected with avg read of 34.8 and avg write 16.6

This is for the tenner 8 gig model as I decided to just get that for a test

dontasciime, thanks for the feedback. These figures are really useful.

By the way, what program did you use to get these results and where can I download it?
