Does it come with the cat?

These are great. Got one for £85 a few months ago. Missus was shocked at how much they are but they do the job and work really well. You would have to check the size of the door if you have a large cat - it is slightly smaller than maybe normal. There are also problems if you have a metal door or UPVC door with metal plate reinforcement.

What a great idea and you can have 32 cats

A lot of love though lol

The manufacturers have though of everything - for example:

"The 4-way manual lock allows you to lock the door in any combination of in/out. For example vet mode allows your cat to enter the house but keeps him inside for the next trip to the vet."

I'm sure most cars would appreciate this sentiment. NOT ;)
#7
Had one of these in the last house, don't think I paid anywhere near this price for it...... That was 3 years ago
#8
This is a bargain!

The flap should be ok in a pvc door, the metal can sometimes mess up the frequency reading, but in all honestly this is pretty rare in my experience.

The only main issue is that sometimes the chip in your cat can migrate down the body making it harder for the flap to read the chip, in this case the flap automatically switches to another mode which has a longer reading distance.

The flap should slide into any staywell door cutout.

A bit of a random product for an online chemist to be selling!

These things were only invented at the end of last year.

So will it let any chipped cat in?

You press a button on the catflap and then it learns the chip number of the next cat to go though, so it will only let those cats it.

I bought one of these a few months ago. Think I paid about £70 and that was after a lot of shopping around. I'm really pleased with it. We had a problem with other cats marking their terratory in the kitchen which wasn't nice so although it was expensive it was money well spent.

One other handy thing is that the screw holes are in exactly the same place as for the Staywell catflaps.

Hot!

So does this recognise the microchip you might already have in your cat? If so, can it really recognise all the different brands of chip? I understood each company had their own non-compatible system?

Yes. It works with the most common type of chip but cats with very old chips may not work. There's more info on their website:

Thanks, i have been in the market for one of these for a while , getting my other cat chipped soon so then they will be able to use my home like the hotel it seems to have now become!

This was the only one i found to have good reviews and without the risks of tags falling off and leaving your cat outside.

The only down point is if you have a un chipped cat they will still be able to exit the flap but wont be able to reenter so its only ideal for homes with pets all chipped up.

The chip reader is only on the outside of the flap .(which im sure is obvious)

voted hot will now be placing an order.

im giving it a shot will report back on my experience when or if it gets delivered.

not into chipping animals, how would you like to be "chipped" always had a cat and we've just..walked to the door and opened it, then opened it again when it wants to come back in, not exactly a hard thing to do.
#22
i could buy this for my neighbour but i'm not sure she'd like the idea of chips being put into her pussy.
#23
why would any1 have a cat? they are the most unloving selfish animals to have as pets. get a dog and have a proper pet
#24
dogs are like retarded kids - cats are like sulky teens.
pay your money, take your choice.

I'm sure you'd change your mind if your cat ever went missing and someone found it, and found out where you lived from scanning the chip to return it to you.

Also I don't know about you but when you and your neighbours are trying to sleep at 3 in the morning the last thing you wanna be doing is getting out of bed to let your cat in/out after it's been meowing for 20 mins, at least with a cat flap they can come and go as they please.

never had a cat go missing and we've had a few in the past 20 years and a cat is more likely to go missing when you have a cat flap because you have no idea if the cat is inside or outside, when you open the door to let your cat in, you know it's inside the house.

If you don't want to hear meowing don't get a cat. if you want a cat, accept that it will a) meow and b) want to go out and come back in. seems stupid to modify a cat because you cannot live with what it does naturally, you chose to get it, deal with it or get a rabbit.

What an idiotic comment. All responsible owners microchip their cats. Its people like you that are the reason places like the Cats Protection League have thousands of lost cats to deal with.

Cats are vermin.

If a cat comes ******** on my garden, I will use standard pest control methods to remove it.

Cats should be kept indoors.

"But they're wild animals !" - Then don't keep them as pets.

Which are best, cats or dogs? If you like dogs, why not draw a picture of a fierce dog in crayons and post it here? If you like cats then post some cute pictures of kittens.
If you can't do either of these things then feel free to stay on topic and talk about the deal.

I didn't even know chipped-cat reading flaps were available. Very expensive compared to the magnet kind but when I'm on holiday with someone else looking after feeding I'm always concerned about the possibility of them losing a collar and getting stuck outside. Thanks for posting this.

Tap water is cheaper than Champagne. That's a standard magnetic collar type.

I've used them before and had big hassles.

Firstly they couldn't send the complete order, nothing unusal with that but then they sent used items as new and I had to threaten them with involving my cc company to get the other part of the order sent.

AVOID THEM!

No point in getting one for my cat, it's too lazy to go outside and is only interesting in eating and sleeping. May as well have got a goldfish as they do the same thing and don't smell as bad and leave hair everywhere too. Will be getting a dog next time I think as they seem far more interested in being friendly.
