Intel Core i5 1.7GHz Processor
10.6" Capacitive Screen

Also if you like apps Microsoft are horrible,

Why would you need apps when you are running applications? ;)

Have some heat, look at that beast. An ipad beater. Hell its a full desktop with touch screen :p I think this would be the ideal gadget for the multitaskers out there, windows 8 tiling is schweeet, it offers what other tablets can't. Including office and x86 steam games.

Love mine (64GB) Has changed my life..!

I carry it instead of a laptop, tablet and pad.

Get 4-5 hours use between charges, which does mean i take my charge to work and home each night.. But then I had to do that with my laptop.

Great machine. Love mines to bits. Prices are coming down due to the awaited SP3.

3rd generation CPU.

Friend has one of these. He's been an Apple fan but said he never uses his iPad any more now he has one of these. This certainly is a lot of power in such a small device.

For me I still don't see the point of a tablet. I much prefer browsing and doing pc type stuff on my laptop. If I want a portable device I'd use my Nexus 5. I'm other words, if I got one of these I don't know when I'd use it, and I generally like tech.

They mean its the first generation surface pro, not a first gen processor.

And this is running Windows 8 not Andriod so you cannot access the Google play store. All you have is the Microsoft app store which doesn't have a lot of choice yet

as this is full Windows you can install any full windows application (is Microsdt Office, or any Windows game). To put it anotherway this is more of a Macbook Air than an iPad

There's app's and then there's app's. If you want this as a replacement for a heavy old laptop, or something to take away on your travels and say process RAW images this will be far superior to any Android device. If you want a tablet or mobile device get an android, if you want something with more developed/professional software (not from the app store) this isn't a bad option. Look at this as a portable PC not a tablet.

I made the switch from win7 to 8 (upgraded to 8.1 on my home PC, hated it at first. But I've disabled live tiles, got it booting to the desktop, installed a classic shell and TBH I'm liking it more and more. Never thought I'd ever defend Microsoft.

Sounds very inefficient. Buying a x86 tablet that runs Windows (known to be crap for battery life) using an emulator to run Android (which is basically just a fancy Java Virtual Machine running in top of a Linux Kernel).

Bluestacks runs like crap on a pro and that's just with a 2d app.

MobyMemory have this for £379.99 if anyone's interested - the company may be less reputable since the buy-out but you'd be protected with a credit card anyway:

Using my 64GB Surface Pro1 every day - typing on it now in fact. Don't use my android tablet at all now. Great price for the 128GB model. Battery life is a pain on the Pro1 but you'll pay near double for the Pro2 which is virtually identical except for a newer power saving processor and graphics chip. A matching magnetic keyboard/cover is a must IMO (can get a Type 2 backlit for £60 ish on ebay). The Surface Pro is not for everyone but if you have uses for its awesome power and versatility, then it is a cracking device.

Not tried it yet but apparently Genymotion is a faster alternative to Bluestacks

Good price just not a fan of tablets at this price range.

Battery life isn't the best and these are chunky old beast but they are very good. Personally gonna wait for the sp3 because with that bad but I genuinely believe they've nailed it. . .

Well that's good :) because it's not a 'tablet' in the traditional sense, it's a full computer/laptop replacement! Well worth the money, mine's been absolutely fantastic.

Glad to see you lot have asked a lot of important questions about this. Now for the only question that actually matters...

Are you guys saying that this thing can run my Steam client version of Football Manager? Because if so, I'm all in.

Love the new Pro3 hardware, especially the larger screen but the core i5 model is buttock clenchingly expensive. Bit naughty of Microsoft to release three versions in just 18 months. Arguably should have waited a few months and released a single, fully finished model. On the other hand, if they had, there wouldn't now be the bargain sell offs that us worker bees can afford.

Sorry, but come on. If you don't know what you're talking about, keep quiet.

This is not a windows phone device, this is the full windows experience. As in saying there's not a lot of choice is a bit like (exactly like) saying "well you could get a computer but there's not a lot available for it"

This tablet runs windows. Not a phone OS.

There's over 168,000 apps, which I would say is "a lot of choice". Not as much as Android and iOS, granted, but then people would mainly be buying this because it can run desktop software as well.

Yes. This is a proper computer. It's not a rival for iPad or Android. It runs the same OS as your desktop.

You can use Bluestacks for running Android apps on this. Runs full screen and performance is very good. Highly recommended

Love mine too! Its a full Windows 8.1 PC in a tablet. The 1080p screen gives plenty of room to work and Metro UI actually makes sense here. The fact you can have a 3 way split screen and do actual work is amazing. Its in no way an 'iPad beater' if you're just looking for light computing with a focus on entertainment. If however you like the idea of a tablet but need PC performance this is a great device.

I have a 64GB MicroSD & a 64GB Nano USB 3.0 drive installed adding a mere £50 to the cost but increasing the storage 3 fold. Once you get used to the capabilities of a Surface Pro its actually quite painful going back an iPad no matter how thin and light it is.

Forget apps! You get full applications? What about games? It may not have Candy Crush but you can install Steam and take advantage of all the cheap 'proper' PC games instead.

+1 to all that
Bit annoyed this is so cheap now. I want to sell my Surface Pro and get a Surface Pro 3 in a month :|

Would love to try one of these but can in no way justify the cost!

In terms of Steam/gaming, what kind of games could you run on this? ie Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone..what's the upper end?

All of those are fine, I have Hearthstone on this.
Xcom is fine, and have Civ5 on here too.
