MOD EDIT - now down to £14.99, was £19.99 when I first posted.

Sorry guys, can't comment on the show, having never seen it, but I can say that it is a good price for the first series of Survivors. This is priced at £19.99 from HMV, with 7.5% quidco.com cashback (about £2.20 extra) and the cheapest elsewhere is about £27...

Details: Conceived by Dr Who's Terry Nation, Survivors is a groundbreaking and startlingly realistic television drama series. First aired in 1975 at the height of the Cold War, Survivors' post-apocalyptic storylines immediately gripped the imagination of the British public and remains compelling viewing to this day. This digitally remastered DVD release includes all eleven hours of the first series.

Includes the following episodes: The Fourth Horseman, Genesis, Gone Away, Corn Dolly, Gone to the Angels, Garland's War, Starvation, Spoil of War, Law and Order, The Future Hour, Revenge, Something of Value, A Beginning.

Series 2 is only £24.99 as well. If you buy both you can use the an3714 code for £5 off which brings the price for both to £39.98. Quidco at 11% brings the total to £35.58 or only £17.79 each.

Its an excellent drama - recommended to anyone. Details a post-apocalyptic Britain after a virus excapes from a lab. Very realistic instead of the Jericho-style "someone's trying to get us" nonsense. S1&2 are very good but cast changes meant S3 wasn't up to much.

This was a cracking series and well worth £20. Series 2 was still pretty good but it started to go down hill after that. For anybody interested, Survivors will form part of BBC4's 'Cult of ' strand in December. Watch out for a documentary and repeated episode. I think that it is week beginning the 5th.

Cheers for the comments guys. I can't recall if I've seen this show - if it's as good as you all say, then I'd probably recall it.

A tramp driving a Rolls Royce he'd pinched along deserted roads is my immediate recall of this. I was hooked for a while then sort of lost interest. I was much younger then so a re-visit may well be in order. Thanks for the heads up op

Without a doubt, my favourite tv series of all time. I paid nearly £40 for each series when the box sets first came out. Fantastic price now.
Series 1 was undoubtedly the best... after the end of series one Terry Nation fell out with the producer Stephen Dudley about the future direction of the series and he left. Carolyn Seymour (Abbie) also left and series two changed noticeably... Ian McCulloch (Greg) continued with Lucy Fleming (Jenny) and they brought in a new male lead Dennis Lil (Charles).... this was mostly based around the Whitecross settlement and although there were some good stories it lacked a real sense of direction (IMHO)...
Series 3 found more direction again (I found) as the hunt for Greg (who had disappeared months ago on a trip to Norway in a hot air balloon) led them around the country, latterly getting diverted in an attempt to restore hydro-electric power.

For those who haven't seen it before... think 28 Days Later without the zombies... a story of the survivors of a mystery disease which kills 99.9% of the earth's population.

Apparently the BBC are trying to buy out the rights to it from Terry Nation's estate so they can make a new series. Whether it will come to anything I don't know, but I'm keeping my fingers-crossed!
