Thanks Mike - prices look reasonable when you take into account the warranty.

Yes you do need to remember these come with 3yrs dell warranty so they may not look fantastic deals on price alone but factor in some for warranty and they dont look too bad.
We have an exclusive partner programe with SVP too, i'm not sure what if any extra discount can be had on these dells with it but the details for it are in this thread.

Some nice deals on the Latitude D830 which has the latest chipset and 800MHz FSB CPUs.

The pricing is strange as for £600 they had two D830 with similar specs except for this:

2GHz, 120GB, 1920x1200 versus 1.8GHz, 80GB, 1680x1050.

You can guess which one is out of stock.
I wouldn’t fancy such a high resolution on a 15.4” screen but each to their own.

BTW, some have XP Pro.

Should I go for VOSTRO 1000 or Ispiron 6400? Both are similar prices. Which is better?

Will only use it for surf, Word/Excel and some video editing. Thanks.

they are very similar but the vostros there, have 2Gb ram which is pretty handy. But i think the 6400 have dual core intel cpu's. so i would go with the 6400. it also has the cool mediadirect, where you can boot the laptop up to just play media like dvd's without booting windows. saves on battery if you just want to watch a film

6400 beats the Vostro 1000 for me ;-)

Hi Mike, and all.. I am in a similar situation...

Was about to but the 6400 for £410, but now seriously thinking about the vostro 1500 with
core duo t7100
2gb ram
160gb hd
gforce 8400 graphics
Truelife screen wxga
9 cell battery
all for £540

What do you think..? is it worth the extra £130...

thanks
charlie.
