Suspicious, i never heard of these people, website has, ooh, half a dozen products and most links dont work. 3 month warantee, doesnt sound good.
Many people would love Pixel because of best software experience, camera and timely updates. Yes its bit boring design but experience is something you need phone to know best about it.

Great tablet I have this
My nexus was pre 2012 model...I bricked it trying to put cyanogenmod onto it to make it usable again. It's now completely dead...which is less annoying than it was before...
SleepyChris
My nexus 7 (the first one) was brilliant until they made it unusable with a firmware upgrade.. My Transformer TF300 was brilliant until it got too hot to touch, they failed to fix it on 3 attempts until if range out of warranty then they said tough. Threatened them with small claims court and all sorts but they weren't bothered. Wouldn't touch them again.
After upgrade to 5 is really crap. Now is nice working rom 7.0 and Nexus is fast and stable.

SleepyChris
Asus. Wouldn't give them a fiver for that headache

Well Asus made a cracking nexus 7 - my 2012 version is still going strong.

Wouldn't trust SVP as far as I could throw them since they were taken over. Used to be a fantastic company

This is the tablet I use daily and would find it hard to recommend anything else. If these are indeed immaculate then this is a hot :)
I would have to agree with this. Superb tablet. Considering it's size, it's amazingly light and easy to handle. Unlike my previous iPad, I never get tired holding it after a short length of time

Yes I agree. As soon as a Samsung salesman put one of these in my hand a few years ago, (8" version) I knew I had to have one due to the weight. It's crazy how light these tablets are.
Very nice providing it is really in good condition as claimed
Make sure the battery isn't knackered

I just got one of these from Cex for £300, (and got £50 off as traded in an old LG 8.3), beautiful tablet, so well designed and light

Can't believe they are still selling windows 10 gadgets with only 32 Gb of space, its just not enough in my opinion. I have a Lenovo yoga that came with that. Space was a Constant struggle and updates a nightmare. drove me mad. luckily I manage to put a 240GB SSD in it and its much better and much more usable for things. Don't think I'd buy any windows 10 gadget with less than 64 GB (even better 128GB) myself.

Comes with 3 months warranty only. Good price though.

Definitely wait for the Surface event if you're in the market. Hopefully I can grab one for even cheaper once the new ones hit.

It appears just to have Intel HD Graphics 520 graphics, rather than Intel Iris or Iris Pro, which is a bit disappointing at the price but I appreciate you are paying for the slim form factor, excellent screen, general build quality and great aesthetics. Seems like a pretty good deal if you were after that particular model. I can't find it cheaper.

The models with the nVidia Graphics in the keyboard are also available (bit more money but still looking to me like great value)

sadly this is cold.
used Surface Pro 4 with only 3 months warranty is a huge risk not worth taking specially at this high price.
anyone know if these will still have manufacturer warranty? Presumably this is the first time they have been retailed so full MS warranty will hopefully apply. Microsoft are normally very good on Surface warranty support which would make this more attractive.

If you check your local staples (well, Office Depot or whatever they call themselves now), they have been selling off their ex-display stock.
I picked up an i5/4gb/128gb Surface Pro 3 for under £300.
Check uk.webuy.com, and under £300 for lower end SP3 is hardly a steal.

It's not the low end one, and on webuy.com it's £450 - https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=STABMICS3I5128G2A#.WQHIDlLMxTI

BTW this is ex demo, add that into your description
Edited.
After buying my first Chromebook around 3 years ago, I'd never go back to using a standard laptop for my everyday use. I upgraded to a FHD one and again would never go back. Well worth the money, silent, quick, major battery time. Amazing bit of kit.

Heat added! The cost of FHD Chromebooks are coming down now it seems, definitely worth spending a little bit extra as it makes a huge difference if you use it everyday.

Sad that SVP seem to have slipped so far, back in the early/mid naughties they were the go to place for blank media. :(

They used to be ran by a small independent bunch of guys.
Then, when they became the default place to buy blank media from, they got bought and taken over.
Since then, they have slipped, gradually and have now hit rock bottom.
It's a fake saving buying any Surface Pro second hand, because of the depleted charge count of the Lithium-ion battery, and the fact its a completely sealed device.

These batteries suffer more than most, because they are very high drain devices, more so than iPads. Batteries in these really can't take that for more than 3-4 years. It's pretty much a throw away device once the battery goes iffy.

Put the money towards a new Surface Pro, if you are specifically after one.

I have used SVP for over 10 years and never had a problem. When this offer popped up I ordered it.
It wasn't until letter that I read people's comments on SVP. So being worried about the money I spent I messaged them. They say another company is going under the SVP name and they are getting the fallout of it.
Don't know if that's true or not, I'm just saying what I was sent.
Anyhow the surface turned up yesterday and opened the outer delivery box to find a scruffy surface pro 3 box. I thought S#£T opened the box and was very shocked.
I went over it with a fine tooth comb and it was immaculate except for a finger print smug on the volume button. Came off with a duster so I'm happy.
Just letter folks know my experience with this
A+ with blemishes, scuffs and buffs.. no, thank you.
Ex demo = second hand but used more!

Do modern laptops really go wrong?

probably more often than older laptops did because modern ones are built as a commodity, to a cost. Older ones were more likely to get a premium price so the was more margin to build to a better quality standard. Just my opinion.

OK good specs but I'm struggling to understand why anyone would by this knowing that its ex display / demo. May have minor buffs on them and only supplied with 3 months warranty when for £10 more you can buy a brand new one with 12 months warranty on Curry's eBay. :(
The Curry's one isn't brand new either, that is also a seller refurb! Seems a bit odd as the processor hasn't been out long, unless they have been upgraded or something.

Strange the Curry's on eBay says its brand new unopened and unused.

I would certainly not write off the comments regarding battery condition. It is widely known that Li-ion batteries are most healthy when kept between 40-80%. Therefore constantly being at 100% for 2 years will definitely have a noticeable effect. Not too the point where they're not usable though.

The b grade ones are £349.
I was tempted by this until I saw, used in retail.

heat for effort
is this a tablet or a laptop? nice price i think
Cold.
SP3's are Good 2-in-1's new, but not worth buying second hand, the batteries get hammered during use. Multiple high current charge/discharges take their toll on the LG batteries. These are designed as sealed up - limited 4 year working life devices.

It's like designing/buying a car that can only be filled up once in its lifetime, but you're buying this second hand with half a tank left. Most of the price when buying new, is paying for the battery longeviity over 4 years.

If you intend to use it tethered at a desk, its fine, but that's not what this was designed for.

Leave it for landfill, where it will likely end up (very soon).

For £10 more I'd rather pick up one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-ENVY-13-d053sa-13-3-Core-i7-6th-Gen-Laptop-256GB-SSD-8GB-RAM-Windows-10-WiFi-/322139092952?hash=item4b00fc77d8:g:ipwAAOSwGYVXDRE7

For several reasons why the £10 would be better off spent this way

- 12 months warranty for no extra cost vs 3months for the deal price or £15 more if you take the extended SVP 6month warranty
- Grade A open box returns with no signs of use vs a display model that as ili has pointed out above get all manner of unspeakable treatment.
- Easy returns NewandUsedLaptops are very good in terms of feedback posted about them on HUKD and how they deal with returns. SVP on the other hand are pretty universally ridiculed about how poor their service is and also the quality of the stuff they churn out as 'refurbished'.

P.S. I'm not even trying to find a better deal for this model so I'm sure there will be one out there on this model. Also OP fails to mention this has a 13.3" Widescreen 3200 x 1800 Resolution screen

I heard display is awful & eager out on these laptops, any owners care to comment? Buying for wife, ages a teacher. so a bit of work on MS word etc, browsing and Netflix!
I have one of these, I thought the screen was quite good but I was coming from a lenovo x201. The screen is nice if you only view it head on but because it isn't IPS it does wash out quickly but not the worst I have used. Not the best buy for netflix for multiple viewers at once. I also bought mine from Svp with no problems.

thanks for getting back, appreciate it!

Never heard of the vendor but they don't seem to get glowing reviews. Comes up as 3 month warranty, for me, too.
Only 3 months warranty.
I would not buy this, I thought the price was for a new one

Expired, it is ex-display

You realise that that's not a reason to expire the deal? Cold is the more apt option.

These HP Laptops are ( Cabinet Display ) Ex Demo units from a major retailer and in immaculate ( A++ Grade ) like brand new condition with no signs of use. The units come in original retail packaging or may be professional reboxed and carry a 3 Months Warranty for Peace of Mind with the option to extend.

Not so sure it's that great of a deal with that sort of after care support. It's perfect, but we won't stand by it.

It's not much more to get a used on with a long warranty and avoid SVP who are renowned for their lack of customer care or service.

Vastly better machine, full HD screen and 12 month warranty

A little more searching likely will find other similar or better deals. That's just ones I've seen in the last couple of days.

I just received mine, I was a bit put off my the bad feedback about svp after I ordered it, but the laptop seems in perfect condition. Not a mark or scratch on it. Loving the screen, even if it's only tft and the led keyboard lighting is cool. I'm hoping this will play diablo 3 ok.

What's the screen going to be like? On the link lyns has put it says it has IPS screen so should be a good screen with good colours and angles, right? Also says WLED though so im confused
No.According to some people who bought HP Envy with FHD screen, HP states it has IPS screen, they tested and found Envy is actually TN panel.
HP was lying.
At this price, it may be ok. But do not expect the screen to be very good. Envy is a model does not come with good FHD screens.
Colour and view angle are not going to be good, same as any other budget laptop.
Having said that, you cannot find good FHD IPS screen laptops at this price range.

No reviews so no idea as to the quality of the IPS FHD screen. Rest of the specs is comparatively pants though.
Even cheaper model with IPS FHD for £230 whilst skimping on everything else. These listed are new not refurbished.http://www.medion.com/gb/shop/budget-laptops-medion-akoya-e4213-md99545-30019561a1.html?wt_cc1=1_2&recommendationId=a43b7130-e868-11e5-8876-448a5b88215a
Anyone want to risk buying one of these and reviewing it?

Some one pointed out this Medion with IPS FHD at £270 last week to me.

I have not heard any reviews about its screen.

If the screen is good, it is a really good deal. £270 for Pentium N3540, IPS FHD, SSD+HDD, 4GB RAM.

The CPU is not powerful, but is certainly enough for day-to-day tasks. It together with the SSD will make the laptop run smooth. If ever feel need upgrade, increase the RAM to 8GB.

It is only a good deal if the screen is good. Because you could get business laptop with i3-4030u and 128GB SSD for £280, but non-FHD.

Does anyone know if the 8700p CPU used in this laptop suffer the same performance issues laptops with the 8800p CPUs do?

Its not that the CPU's have performance issue. The problem is OEM's have limited to output to 15w rather than 35w.
Still a great CPU - It's just not been given the opportunity to flex it's true capabilities.

I knew this was going to be a refurb looking at the spec for the price, great specs other than the screen but tbh 768p is passable for a 15.6 inch screen.
I've bought this exact laptop from svp.co.uk last week. I too was a bit worried about some of the reviews of the company but I can tell you that for me atleast, my concerns were completely unwarranted. Placed my order on Thursday and it arrived by Courier on Monday (free delivery). It allows you to pay via PayPal so you have buyer protection from 180 days of purchase.

As far as the laptop goes I'm very happy for the price I paid. For a refurbished model it arrived well packaged and the laptop itself did not have a mark or scratch on it, I'd go as far as to say it looked brand new.

Initial experience of using the laptop can be summed up as follows
- Good Design / Colour
- Good Keyboard (has separate number pad for spreadsheets etc.)
- Really Quiet
- Excellent Battery Life.
- Boots up fast
- Runs smoothly and quickly. (streamed a HD music video of YouTube with no issues whatsoever)

The negatives are the screen which isn't the best resolution (but is matte so deals with reflection well) and the mouse pad is pretty poor very though I dislike mouse pads in general.

Not had a great amount of time to analyse the HD 520 graphics but there are plenty of YouTube videos displaying it's capability, some even seem to show GTA V running at low settings.

I searched long and hard for an approx £300 laptop with decent specs and this fits the bill nicely. Really couldn't find anything similar for the money even at used/refurb level. Yes the warranty is a risk but judging by the condition mine arrived in, I'm hopeful that this won't be an issue.

are there any other reputable companies that sell this product for this price - svp looking at the reviews seem a bit micey ?
It is a refurb.
The price is in the right range. The price is not ridiculously cheap.
As laptop price this days goes, refurb consumer laptops, i3 is £200, i5 is £250 to £300. This one has 6th gen i5, 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD, so £300 is actually normal.
its not the price i have issue with its the company - they do seem to have a ropey reputation.

I got you. Initially I thought that you think the price is too cheap to be true, which is not the case.

Never bought from them personally, cannot vouch. 3 month warranty is not giving peace of mind.

I suggest find something else as this price is not that hot consider how much brand new business laptops only cost.
