One of my neighbours uses this setup, he uses his laptop at the bottom of his garden in the shed with no problems at all.

I'm using one of the dongles (same as in this pack) in my new office.... they're shockingly bad.

And the dongle doesn't seem to like the XP built-in Wireless Utility - can only see a few networks using their built in Wi-Fi utility oddly enough (and the software with is desperate) - you need to choose the network, and enter the password each time unless you create a "profile" for it. It's really woeful!

It was only €5 on sale.. but I can see why.

Sweex stuff I only buy in a "need it yesterday, don't care if it lasts 10 minutes" situation - ie not very often.

Cheap rubbish. Spend £40 on a Linksys.

I have a little story about these :)

I moved to the Netherlands from Wales about three years ago. One of my visits back to the UK, I bought a Sweex wireless router from Aria as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law in NL, as she'd just got herself a laptop. Within a few months, it broke. Sweex told me to send it back to the company I bought it from, and so since I was again about to pop back to Britain, I offered to send to send it back to Aria - though I knew it wouldn't be fixed in time for my return, I thought I could pick it up next time I was back.

After hearing nothing for several weeks, I contacted Aria asking for the status of the router. After a lot of confusing noises, It turns out that it had been sent to the Netherlands for repair, and once it was fixed it would be sent back to the UK :p

In short: I bought a router in the UK, took it to the Netherlands, sent it back broken to the UK, where it was sent to the Netherlands, where eventually it was sent back to the UK for me to pick up to bring back to the Netherlands :-D

My carbon footprint that year must have been massive

Dave,
your router needs frequent flyer miles mate.....

What a nightmare....

Do I take it that now the router works okay? Or have you had further problems , opr just given up on it?

By the time the router was back they'd bought themselves a new Linksys, which so far is working fine

USB adaptors are fine, got three of them in the house, running on 2x MCE 05 machines and one Vista HP.

My son has asked for a wireless router for his Xbox 360 so that's why i looked at this deal.

Confused now as mixed reports. He sits in his bedroom to play it.

Would i be better off forking out for a linkseys ( whatever that is) and where can i get a from at a reasonable price? Thnx
