Dunno tbh..if they did they would stop making them I think, think its just what people believe...like the whole upright vs lying down debate in regards to overheating

They have been known to cause problems, google it there are loads of stories about them, personally I wouldn't pay for anything that could potentially break my Xbox, they are good enough at breaking themselves!!!

However the price is good if you want one!

they wont cause RROD on the new 60GB though as they dont get RROD according to Microsoft
#9
Lucky to find a store with them stocked.....but on the advice given above I think I will give it a miss.
#10
I don't really think RROD is an issue due to the warranty from Microsoft, the issue with these things is the physical damage they can cause, they have been known to melt around the power socket then if/when you get an RROD Microsoft won't repair it because of the damage cause by third party un-approved accessories.

Thats what I heard and I can see the logic behind it. Which is why I would not use one these.

Pity M$ cannot let us change the fan ourselves without cracking open the case

All the above are academic to me (and most others I suspect). No stock at the first 20 stores I checked.

Hmmm. Very unusual that for a PCWorld bargain.:whistling:

dont bother!

I hate Currys..advertise stuff they dont have in and there no help at all. The one I was in yesterday the smug guy who I asked on the off chance they may have a HD-DVD drive took great pleasure in telling me how he'd bought 20 when they had a batch in from other stores and how he'd made a fortune selling them on Ebay...

I do hope the money was worth the effort tbh as no way on Earth he'd get it without paying for it

One of my locals has both the black one and the white one in stock.

I know what you mean though whenever there is a deal on here with instore 360 games none of my my local stores has them in.

I would have asked to speak to the manager and then asked to use their phone so you could phone up their head office about the employee that bought the hd-dvd players to sell on ebay after he told you what had gone on. I suppose it is a perk of the job and lets face it they must need em.
