These external fans have been reported to be worse for the 360 than not having one at all.. the 360's power supply does not provide additional electricity to power these sort of devices so it gives less power to the console itself.

i'm sure i've read many reports online about these being worse, here's a pic i quickly found of one cooler..

i'd warn to do your research before purchasing!

are these not suppose to break the 360, ie MS won't offer supprt if using one of these?

Voted hot before reading the thread, ignore my vote! Jesus, wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

These were 97p not long ago as well from Currys...

I got one, waste of time, extremely noisy and pointless.

That was the 3rd Gen Nyko ones which went back up to £9.97, and now down to £4.97 - we purchased another one for our 2nd console last Sunday, but only because it still had the 97p sticker on which they honored.

Yeah it can be noisy, but we've got use to it and they work fine, with no adverse effect on the console..... i wouldn't touch these swordfish ones though.

i'm pretty sure these devices void your warranty, use at your own risk

why dont you just buy a small desk fan and sit it over it! no voiding warrranty then! lol! my 360 doesnt seem to get that warm, then again it hasnt been thrashed for hours and hours yet either

Or sit it on a laptop cooler - that's what I've always done

ACTALLY - these fans are the BEST you can get:

the product uses 2 fans which are inline with the consoles original fans, so there is no airflow blockage.

the build quality isnt top notch - i've found that they need changing once in a while - but for £2.97, its well worth it IMO.

Power: seeing as the 360 can run a 12v fan from the mortherboard, i dont see how these 2 small v. fans would cause any damage to the system.

Warranty: if you dont tell MS, then how will they know??? common sense.

the increase in air flow & suction from the top+bottom grills is dramatically increased.

well woth £2.97 IMO - it's made my Core unit last over 18months - i would have expected it to have died long ago seeing as how its got a Xenon Mboard (pre-HDMI) & no extra heatsink.

# just collected 2 from my local PC WORLD :)

i use a Thawmatic defrosting tray myself since it absorbs heat like a sponge :-)
