Still surprised how good these are for the money. Going strong even with the kids playing with it

These are not kids toys, they are toys that kids get so that their dads can 'show' them how they work! :D

My 7yr old received this from Santa, it's not broke yet so must be good!

This looks identical to the one I got in Poundstretcher a couple of months ago.

Very easy to fly and durable when it comes to crashes.

    Good price.

Don't know if you're aware but you can get almost every part for peanuts off of amazon/eBay.... Unless he PROPERLY bust it :D. So far we've just had a few blades and a tail fin break, I think the blades were just over a quid delivered and the tail came with some other bits and bobs ;)

Agreed, great item. I have brought about 6 of these for presents and they are very stable and excellent for beginners. Parts are also available with ease for those really bad accidents.
The Gyro keeps it very stable and you can annoy the wife no end when she is trying to watch Eastenders :-)

Criticisms I have of this are...

1/ It's pretty slow - not got enough attitude (forward/backward) control to get quick movement.
2/ Related - there's no "trainer" mode. In fact, this pretty much is stuck in trainer mode so maybe there's no expert mode?!
3/ You can't turn and go forward at the same time - you've got to let off one to push the other.

Other than that - other comments are right. It's pretty hard to break, and even if you succeed you can get most of the parts on eBay. It's hard to directly compare these things with each other. This one's key feature is that it's got gyro direction stability control - if you tell it to point in a direction (and trim it a bit), it'll stay pointing in that direction regardless of other movement. Cheaper ones spin because you go up/down (e.g. increase rotor speed so create more force trying to spin it).

Best one of these I ever had was the Silverlit Spy Cam Heli - same features as this but with a built in video camera. Only problem was that the electrics (gyro?) failed and it became uncontrollable. They seem to have stopped making them.

Are these not legit syma then? Just that mine will go up/down and forward/turn at the same time???
