IMO, Synology produce the best NAS around (for this price point), and this is a very robust version with a couple of USB 3.0 ports (and another 2.0 port), and a solid dual-core CPU (for a NAS).
Not to be confused with a Microserver which are less targeted for NAS-specific work.

I use my older version to serve media files within my home (including to an XBMC machine) and to access securely from the outside world.

£10 cheaper than the other usual sources, although this has slow delivery.

I'd recommend this review for more details of the machine:

You do know that the microserver can get xpenology which makes it in to a synology box.

If you want to save £65 at Amazon, the 414J is fine for home use.
Not checked ebuyer but price after cashback is potentially better still.

Someone said WOL can't be made to work using xpenology on the microserver. AFAIK that's the only thing it fails at... Mine starts and shuts down on the timer included in xpenology. idk if adding a pcie NIC would fix this.

It does not work out of the box but can be made to work by ssh into the microserver.

Is this compatible with that DX513 that enables it to be expanded by 5 extra bays?
