But offered the above for £17.92 on a 24 month contract, choice of a few phones, I chose Samsung Galaxy

Apparently from 1st Feb there internet goes down to 500mb per month

most phones are worth about £150

take away this cost, the deal comes out at about £11 a month

Cracking bargain, Gromit.

I'd switch from O2 if only I wasn't tied into their broadband as well!

Heat, cheers

They told you a load of rubbish!. Get it in writing! As they informed you that as of it going to 500Mb before you accepted the contract you WILL go on 500Mb after the 1st Feb.

Yes that is my understanding too. When they announced it and there was a huge uproar they quickly corrected it to state all new connections will be restricted by the 500Mb limit. So you will prob be in that new chunk with the limit being applicable from the 1st. However, unlike other companies you won;t be charged for excess use. They claim they will stop audi/video/multimedia streaming but you will still get web and email access. So just don't hope to surf Youtube when your allowance is used up. Though how they recognise surfing a Youtube.com website as a video stream I am not sure?
