I have been sent a free G1 as an upgrade when I had problems with my Vario 3. Compared to my I-Pod touch the only advantage is the keyboard and the large amount of free software fast appearing in the marketplace. It is nice, but it's not an I-phone beater for anything other than text input.

I am also keen to get away from T-Mobile as the coverage is rubbish and the 3G connection drops every other call even when in full reception :x

If O2 ever offer the I-Phone on a competitive package then I think I will have to go for it. Just wish Apple would give it a keyboard and a memory card slot to make it the ultimate gadget.

Competitive than what though? The PAYG IPhone is not bad if you're a low call / high net user like me. This G1 deal is pretty good value but I hate 18m contracts, the world moves on so much in a year. I was quite up for getting one of these and would be tempted at this price, but the reviews I've read suggest waiting for a better Android device. Now Android on the Touch HD, that would do for me.

i've just checked their website, and you could pay 20/pcm and have this phone for free. Nice one if you are not looking for more talk time(just for internet browsing + texters!)

I can't find this. On the 18m combi £20/m it's £49 for the phone.
