I've used my HTC Hero a lot for internet/iplayer/gps/podcasting but I don't make that many x-network calls (probably around 90 mins/month) so this package is ideal for me. It's a £10/month contract with a phone cost of £115. This includes 100 cross network minutes, 100 texts, unlimited landline calls (other free booster options were available) and "unlimited" data. I went through topcashback and have £80 tracking.

Battery life is very good for a smartphone, the screen is the same size as the Desire but slightly higher resolution. Best of all the front is Gorilla Glass and the body is waterproof (1m). It's currently running Android 2.1 but is expected to get 2.2 early next year. Swype is preloaded. It seems faster than a Galaxy S but not as fast as the newer 1Ghz phones. Motoblur gets a bit of a bashing in reviews but I use Launcherpro so it's not an issue.

And a video with some dropping, scratching and soaking here - http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8635

Without a contract the phone is around £299.

I was just looking at that advert and thinking I have so many pool party's booked for the winter period...

Why would you take your phone in the pool oO
#3
Point taken - it also resists drink spills and accidental plunges into the sink.
#4
Definitely not faster than the Galaxy S considering its a 1Ghz phone with a PowerVR540 GPU which currently makes the Galaxy S the best for gaming!

After the dext when they promised that all their phones will be updated to Android 2.1 and they failed to do that, I would never ever consider to buy again a motorola...Before you buy the phone please have a look on the UK forum to see how many upset people were complaining and how they treated them

I've always wanted to talk on the phone while in the shower and bonus...you'd always have a clean phone. ^_^

to be fair I know of several people who have dropped their phone down the bog, so if youre prepared to fish it out at least it will still work even if it smells a bit.........

This phone may only be 800MHz but it runs the TI Omap 3630 with a PowerVR 530 which gets the same Quadrant score as the 1 GHz hummingbird the Galaxy S uses.
The Galaxy S only wins due to its PowerVR 540 which can produce more triangles/second.

Read some place that this was one of the most common ways of trashing your phone.

Yeah. Says a lot about the way the market's gone. Ten years ago, it was all angry teenagers throwing their phones against walls. Nowadays, phones cost too much to do that, so just it's hungover 20-somethings Facebooking while sitting on the bog at work and making that utterly tragic slip o' doom.

Is it 1 or 3GB?

It's 3gb and if you go over the speed gets throttled down. Speedtest also shows it's the faster option.

But we’re expecting a delivery of these very soon and we will let you know as soon as they’re back in stock, we’ll send you an email once we’ve completed your order, which will include details of when the phone will arrive."

I have mine - ordered over the weekend online. Delivered on Tuesday.

I really like it - it's fast, small, light and the battery is giving me far more on time than my HTC Hero did. The loudspeaker is very loud too, both as a ringer and as a speaker.
