Edit: Sorry looks like you need to purchase £10 top up as well.

Could be worth a try.

Just checking my topcashback account and they have a 1 day only deal on T-mobile PAYG handsets of £11 cashback.

Had a look at the T-mobile site and there are 3 phones at £9.99 so £2 profit for a back up phone if it tracks.

£9..99 phones are:

LG KP170
LG GB102
Samsung E1120

" £11 cashback. [...] phones at £9.99 so £2 profit "

I didn't understand why retailers persist with the £x.99 nonsense when surely everyone rounds it up to the full pound rather than just see the number of whole pounds - but I now realise that they know what they're doing and that, despite our wonderful system of education with so many going to university, there are still enough people around who will unthinkingly fall for this creaky old ruse.

I think it used to be, and maybe still is in actual shops, to ensure that the staff have to open the till and put the money in/get change out, and don't just pocket the exact £1 coin or £5 note etc that has just been handed to them.

I bought a Pulse with 6 months free internet some time back, and didn't need to do anything to make the internet free. I bought another phone with 6 months free internet during the last 20% off day, and it appears you have to make a paid call and send a certain text message to make the internet free.

Thus, thinking aloud, if you were to buy another phone today with free internet do you reckon you could just keep the box in the box for a few months and then invoke the free internet (when the free internet offers may have disappeared, and my current 6 months have expired)?

BTW it was actually a nightmare getting free internet on the 2nd phone - the order confirmation had internet as chargeable despite it being clearly stated as free during ordering, there was no mention anywhere (including no text message) telling me what to do, and contacting customer services was a nightmare

The phone cost is 7 pounds because of mandatory topup

The phone cost is 7 pounds because of mandatory topup

Please show workings!

Let's start again, shall we?

Outlay for handset = 9.99
Rebate from TopCashBack = 11.00
Surplus from handset purchase = 1.01 (aka "profit")

but mandatory outlay on top-up = 10.00

Therefore net cost for handset plus airtime plus accessory voucher with face value of 20.00 (handy for car charger if to be used as a back-up phone) =
10.00 - 1.01 = £8.99

T-Mobile's tariff of 25ppm for off-net and landline calls means no more than 40 mins. of such calls for that 10quid top-up (10.0 / 0.25 = 40).
