Amazing phone, especially for the price...

capacitive screen, meaning iPhone like response. 3.5" HVGA screen, biggest on Android phones'. Runs similar CPU speed as HTC Hero, innovative home screen.

GPS, Wifi, HSPA (7.2Mbps), GPRS/EDGE, 3.2MP Camera with video capabilities.

Top notch features, for incredibly low price...

check out demo @ http://androinica.com/2009/09/07/t-mobile-pulse-video-shots-show-device-is-better-than-expected/

Although should note, the release phone should be better than one on video, as it is a prototype.

I was thinking of buying the HTC Hero, but now at 177 price point, it is really tough to decide. HTC Hero would cost about 370gbp unlocked, and about 300 on ebay.

not a world beater but good for someone who likes the look of all the stuff an iphone can do without paying the price for one or just someone trying to avoid being just-another-follow the crowd iphone owner.

This is good phone and good value for your money, voted hot
#5
How does this compare to the HTC hero in terms of performance.
Ive just ordered the HTC but may consider changing
#6
seems hot to me

This look really nice... might give it a try. Currently uses the HTC touch HD.
PS:(I hate the iphone Passionately)

Great phone or the price

BUT:
"Get your T-Mobile Pulse
with these great value plans
Pay as you go
£176.16
+ £10 top up"

Also, isn't this RRP? :?

Looks interesting it's very rare for "cheap" phones to have a capacitive screen. Also the spec includes a GPS, so might be nice to run TOM TOM off.

Love the fact it will accept Micro SD cards, why oh why does every phone not include this!

Assume it's locked to T mobile, can it be unlocked?

Nope. My trusty sim bypassing chip has worked on most T-mobile locked phones so I can then use my O2 sim with unlimited internet. Worked fine on the old G1. :-D

I imagine in time the guys over at XDA Developers will be able to port the HTC Hero OS onto this, making this phone even better value for money.

For those that don't know the Hero OS is basicly a skinned Android OS, but with a lot more features, such as facebook/twitter intergration, seperate apps etc.

this isn't really being sold as a top end camera phone, its a cheap andriod phone with on the go web access.. also don't really know what u mean by a cross between an iphone and the tocco ultra? Do u simply mean its a touch screen phone like man y others out there?

Anyways back to the deal, and the phone

bit worry to here cnet say this:

Unfortunately, like many of the smart phones currently wowing us with their app-packed powers, the Pulse is crap at actually being a phone. We found its call quality very poor, and calls take ages to connect, or fail altogether. We have the same complaints about smart-phone stars like the iPhone and Hero, so we don't want to single out the Pulse unfairly, but it's hugely annoying and something to be aware of. (cnet.co.uk)

The price seems decent for what it is.. unlike the tocco ultra (and lite) it has Wi-Fi and 3g capabilities which is handy. Nice screen size and 2gb internal memory seems good.

For anyone looking for a budget touch screen phone, like myself then u may want to see how much the HTC tattoo will cost:

As for the deal it self, not going to vote hot as there isn;t an actual offer. But thanks for letting us know about the phone!

£177 for a newly released smartphone is stupidly cheap. Trust me.

Considering the 5800 was more expensive when it was release this is one hell of a good price. I have the HTC hero and the android OS really is extremely good. Especially with the HTC touchflow for the android on it.

Hopefully you can get the touchflow on this at some point in the future if the guys at xda-developers, can work at it.

At £177, this is definitely the phone to buy!
#15
was on the link =- when in T Mobile site there are 2 options - pay monthly (link to page works fine) and payg - the link for which now says 'Sorry. We cannot find this page. Please select a different menu option'.
#16
HTC Hero are going for around £250 in ebay auctions two weeks when I checked
#17
Made bny Huawei wonder if you can unlock the Pulse
#18
Think over £300 for Hero on EBay now - I have been keeping an eye on the prices.
#19
how much is unlocking from t mobile?

Doesn't mention WiFi on the T Mobile website?

Not the thinnest of phones - 136mm thick according to the website:roll:

Interesting though, I'm looking at the Acer F900 on Expansys, similar price, unlocked but Winmobile rather than Android.

Is Android that much better than Winmobile?

Android OS is very good. You can buy co-pilot for £26 for your sat nav needs. Capacitive screens are miles better. If it's half as good as my htc magic then £177 is a bargain - just make sure your on a data tariff to get the most out of it!
#26
looks cheap.... :/
#27
Very good price! Gotta be a mistake! Anyone ordered?

Checkout doesnt work...

Sorry. We cannot find this page. Please select a different menu option.
#28
Hot - Android for this price.

I don't think its a mistake, actually read about an 'android payg budget phone' being released couple months back.
#29
Thing is the contract price isn't anywhere near the PAYG price. It's actually better value than contract!

Nokia 6700 is same price (£176.16) maybe they got mixed up?
#30
Its unbranded name seems to be Huawei U8220.

Seems ok. According to this link its seems to have the same qualcomm processor but half the memory of the Hero. (A little less memory than the G1).
#31
The price is good, unfortunately T Mobile have launched a phone you cant buy,I have bben trying to get hold of one for the last 2 days and neither of my local stores have received any stock yet, even though the launch day was thursday it wasnt on their system (it is now but no handsets) and I dont trust the delivery service enough to torder it on line.

PS:(I hate the iphone Passionately)

Just sold my touch HD as my business partner wanted an iphone so we got them on contract. I have been a Windows Mobile phone user for the last few years (since my first orange SPV). Really hated the iphone - but having used it, found it to be one of the best phones I have ever had - it works brilliantly. Yes, it has lots of faults, but it is far better than the HD in my opinion.

You will also see people wuch as Gears from Coolsmartphone.com (whose site I have used for years and is dedicated to WinMob) now using an iphone as his own personal phone.

Hopefully Windows 7 will bring me back to a HTC next year, but now I much prefer the iphone to anything windows mobile (not tried the Android stuff but would like to)

This phone was announced a month or so ago and the price mentioned was £180 so there's no mistake.
It was also mentioned that T-Mobile was going to do a PAYG bolt on for data @ £5 per month for a 1Gb usage which sounds great to me.

Shame that they don't seem to be selling them just yet !

This phone looks a bargain at £180... seems to kick ass on Vodafone's likely competitor to this, the HTC Tattoo.

I want one.
#37
Just rang T-Mobile. Phone is not available PAYG
#38
That puts the dampners on it - wonder why they have the page live on the T Mobile site, just a dead link.

I agree with Deal Searcher. Android will be BIG. It's only just starting to take off, but it will fly! Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part ;)
