GREAT price, for one of the best phones you can get at this price range. Does everything you will probably want from it. Was previously £176 so this is now dropped in price. It will cost about £15-£17 to unlock it. Apart from the camera this is definitely the best phone I have owned including Symbian and Windows Mobile based phones.

Tis indeed a great phone - just wish it would drop below £100 - no chance yet - but heat and rep anyway

Thanks. Yes it is excellent, so much better than my Nokia 5800 and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1....

This is the site to keep an eye out on for any future ROMS to be made for it as they have just cracked building a complete ROM with everything working :)

the camera is really bad if thats its standard

edit: useless crap removed so i dont get more replies before they read the current ones :)

Camera is similar quality to an iphone...
Not sure about google based? I have all google apps running, even the market place is fine... Android is a google operating system so again not sure what you mean there.
Yes about space, however I have over 10 new apps installed and still got some space on it. Including sat nav etc... Also you can root it if you go to the modaco website there is a tutorial. This means that apps can be installed onto the memory card, which basically means limitless space...
Yes there are already a few reports going around that there might be v2.0 of the android software coming to the phone early next year.... As is though it is still more than capable of taking on any Symbian or Windows Mobile phone out there....

Lastly in this price range find a smartphone that is equivalent in spec with any OS? Its not possible.

anyway, not seen much on this phone but 3 things i seem to remember were comments saying:
as its not 'google based' (or something..as i say i dont know much about android phones) getting the apps on is alot harder
there is only small amount of space to put apps in (not on external storage)
and upgrades to software would depend on the manufacturer releasing them

no, its fully android and getting apps is easy
this is a steal for an anroid phone
plenty of add space, any by rooting you can transfer apps to sd
your source does not know what they are talking about

Would be great if it was possible to put the HTC Hero rom onto this somehow, or at least the sense UI.

I got one on Sunday from this deal and I love it, apps are easy to put on it, the touch screen is great to use and very clear, it's a real bargain.
#10
twe and colonel, thanks for the clairfications.
As i said i didn't know much about this at all, the 'comments/sources' were personal opinions after reviews by users so there was a fair chance of user ignorance. Edited them to save the usual 2 day old replies to soemthing already cleared up.

the 3.2megapixel of the cam doesn't bother me (nor iphones:)) its just the fact that every image is blurred, again could be a shaky hand or so.
#11
No worries, I got the phone so can ask me anything you need to know about it.
#12
I did not like it, until I saw it has got wi-fi.
what a price...hot for me.

wklee - When I did not use the phone it was on standby for 3 days. When you do you use it you are looking at about 1-1.5 days... However this also depends if you have other things going on like bbc newsfeeds, push mail, or wifi, because they will eat the battery in less than a day. Its got a 1500Mah battery in it. I think it has a bit more life than what you can do with the iphone as my cousin has one and based on his usage I can do more....

manzi - Yes there are over a 1000 apps in the market place, similar to iphone you can browse the apps store and download on your phone, no pc required. But you can also just do a search online and copy the file over to your memory card and use a program on the phone to search that directory and install it...

And yes baldude it does have wifi :)

Cool!, and last question befor ei buy, does it only run on t-mobile or can i unlock it? :)

I had an iphone when they first came out, got it for £99 and unlocked it. Sold it for more, didnt like the lack of bluetooth functionality and a few others things which have all been resolved now. There still isn't a phone with as good a user interface, but I'm tempted by this. My Sony Ericcson is playing up, which by their recent standards seems to be the norm. So as long as I could get this working on O2 I'd have it and I'd need to find an alternative to Sony's TrackID service as I use that quite a lot.
#26
I've heard mixed stories about these phones? Good deal though
#27
Ah just realised this doesn't have a radio. I know this phone does so much more than my W760i but I do use the radio and the trackid works with the radio as well which is brilliant. So maybe I'll just stick with my phone which switches off randomly, won't make a call the first time you try to call any contact, only works the second time you call a contact and likes to crash as well. Ah if only Sony Ericcson would sort out their firmware but they never do!
#28
What are the GPS capabilities of this phone and will it be dependant on a network data tarrif?

I've currently got a smartphone with Tom Tom and use a bluetooth GPS mouse but am looking to replace it with a single unit.

Thanks
Rob

True it doesn't, but it can do podcasts and streaming radio/tv via wifi/gprs along with playing music files like mp3s...

It has A-GPS.... Basically it can use the network data but you can switch this off. So that it only uses the built-in gps.... Luckily I have unlimited internet on my contract so I love the 10 seconds it takes to know where I am.... And it took about 80 seconds when I was just using the gps. This was pretty important to me before I bought it myself as my 5800 built in gps can take 5+ minutes for some bloomin reason!
#34
Does this have the Youtube application?

Do you think I can get a discount if I am already a T-mobile customer?

Thanks for the reply. Follow up question, does anyone know of any sat-nav software which will work using only the built in GPS receiver?
Thanks

This phone looks cool, can anyone tell me if I can read ebooks on it? As this is primarily what I am after.
#37
Is this phone fast in general use?
#38
Very good price. The HTC Magic was available from certain Vodafone stores unlocked for a staggering £400 only 6 months back. I actually bought one at that price and am very impressed with Android, but would have to say the interface is far behind iPhone (I used to have the 1st gen iphone which I sold for profit 'unlocked l00k' on ebay which funded my magic), but the Android OS itself is a lot more open. For this price, it's a steal!
