As ever there is possible Quidco too!

Thanks for the links.

It looks to be a bit of bargain for sure, and a good way to get a capable internet phone for a very good price (especially if the Quidco comes through as well!)

You can't beat a good Pulse!
#5

Yup

Its one day only, and it does not start until midnight.

Just giving peeps the heads up so they can take advantage of it.
#6
Tough decision for me, I've already got the non mini Pulse and an unofficial 2.1 has just been released for it in the last few days :)
#7
This looks like a lot of phone for the money, only down side is the resistive touch screen and stylus.
#8
I have one of these and I have to say i am very impressed, for this almost laughably small amount of money you get an awful lot of features - the OS is great and the phone is pretty responsive. all in all its a good buy (for me).

only downsides, TINY [virtual] keyboard makes typing hit and miss [and i have fairly small fingers for a bloke] and the screen. that said, i havent had many mis-taps or non-responses from it, it just isnt iphone sensitive but at this price thats hardly surprising...

and these guys say they can unlock it for a tenner: http://www.unlock-tmobilepulse.com/
#9
As this phone is a resistive screen, that means that it is not multi-touch, can you still zoom in on Google Maps? Any other troubles re: lack of multi-touch?
#10
Multitouch has never been that big of a thing to me as i tend to 'double tap' to zoom anyway - it just seems more natural :)

Could you tell us the download link for the unofficial 2.1 for the original T-mobile pulse? Thanks.

Not as simple as that methinks. Head towards www.modaco.com and check the Pulse forums. Still a beta leak and being worked upon at the moment. Paul and BigBear developing this excellent new version (2.1) as I type. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

As for the phone, save up a few more shekels, do some more overtime, sell a kidney (you don't need 'em both!) and get the larger Pulse.

As I mentioned, it's unofficial and is reasonable unstable. If you can't wait for the official 2.1 and don't mind tinkering for a bit (and the Pulse isn't your main phone) then give it a go

The rest of the forum is worth checking every now and then...

Shame it doesn't have a GPS, a good phone all the same. Before anyone complains I have a Nokia 5230 which cost £78 and it has a GPS and even though Symbian isn't up to Android standards I think the free Sat Nav is great, and the rest of the apps Symbian supports. If this had a GPS I'd think about getting rid of my 5230, as it stands though GPS is a serious omission, with all the location based apps about now and augmented reality apps coming out. Android 2.1 would be the cherry on top though, hope they get it stable soon.

A small blog that concurs with my opinion, or rather I concur with it >

http://phandroid.com/2010/02/17/t-mobile-pulse-mini-only-100-but-no-gps/

I still voted this hot btw as it's the best price I've seen for this phone, and some people will love an Android based phone at this price regardless of the lack of GPS.
#21
It looks like it has a 3.5mm headphone port at the bottom

Edit: It says on the specs page that it does have GPS.

I just checked http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_pulse_mini-3167.php and it appears it does. So I will ignore dodgy blogs in future then, if that's true. I generally trust gsmarena, although they state it has Android 2.1. So what is the truth does this have an inbuilt GPS?

Right this site clearly states it DOESN'T have an inbuilt GPS. I'm confused why some people say it does and others don't.

http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2010/03/22/t-mobile-pulse-mini-unboxed/

"Unfortunately the T-Mobile Pulse Mini is let down by a lack of GPS (Even INQ is cramming it into its cheap handsets now) for Google Maps guidance, and a shocking keyboard. Though the T-Mobile Pulse Mini comes with a stylus that slides out from the back of the case, it didn’t produce much better efforts than our fingers."

I don't own this phone however T-mobile is listing this Phone as having inbuilt GPS (overview --> connectivity)
also checkout (What additional features does the phone have?) http://www.pulsemini.co.uk/

May be there are different versions for different regions. Also for this price(specially discounted) it is an absolute bargain. Everything(well almost) that super-smart phones have at a fraction of their cost.

Thoroughly recommended for anyone wanting to have a 'good' look at Android Platform.

Yeah I see that, I think we need to hear from some one who actually owns the phone, as plenty of sites say it doesn't have a GPS and some do.

I can believe T-mobile. If they say it has GPS and it doesnt then it can go straight back(Good opportunity to have a good look at Android Platform )

Yes the UK version does have GPS (the board is available in the various Huawei phones). As stated before this depends on region like Russia and North Korea you cant sell a phone with GPS so they make a version without GPS.

Vodafones 845 will be available next month (same internals) and should be £99 too. Just depends what network you want and which casing you like.

As for the deal at £75 with 6 months internet (use voip and IM instead of texts) this could be a cheap phone that you could probably get most of that back after 6 months.

To GAVINLEWISHUKD : Thanks for that info.
#33
the facts from www.pulsemini.co.uk are correct, it does have GPS.
#34
OP prices are slightly incorrect. Here is the deal for Thursday:

For one day only, from 10am to 10pm, on Thursday 20th May, all PAYG handsets will have 20% off. This will include the top handsets, such as:

* Blackberry 8520 £119.99
* Nokia 5230 £63.99
* T-Mobile Mini Pulse £79.99

Source: buy.at newsletter.

I would expect that you'll need a £10 top up as well.
#35
how much will this phone cost to unlock as i am on o2 sim.
#36
ffs ... it DOES have a GPS.

I have one.

It gives my accuracy in google maps to 3m and I can see where the gps satellites are with a 3rd party GPS app.

Not an iphone beater but good value imho.

QVGA screen only (resistive) ... but works ok.
#37
is this a 3g phone?
