I would say not so hot as low resolution 800x480 and inferior resistive touch screen. Saying that it is very cheap and I can't really come up with an alternative so have not voted either way.

Actually if you can stretch to just under £150 then this is infinately better in every way http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?prodID=B681351 it isn't an android tablet but you can put a build of android on it which seem to work very well

does anyone know if this has a USB port for browsing files on an external HD or is this asking too much, and also if you could play Facebook games on it? thinking of getting one for my mum and brother for xmas. cheers. Voted hot.

It will sort of play the FB games but at 800Mhz and 512mb RAM it will struggle to do that well. They don't usually browse external drives.. this might be different but most have a mini/micro usb to add things like a LAN adaptor for networking.

I have similar 10" tablet with a 1Ghz processor and 385Mb RAM and I can really only use it as a Book/Comic Reader.

The novo 7 has been gettign some great reviews and is the 1st Android 4 tablet on the market. You have to import them atm but this eems a reasonable price via ebay..

Doesn't list USB (nor HDMI out):
"Interface: DC jack*1, TF card slot*1, Headphone jack*1"

Also Android 2.2, which is a bit old now (Honeycomb is 3.0). A TF card is just another name for MicroSD, so that's OK.

Isn't the Archos 70 tablet better than this from CPW?

I bought the same specced tablet off ebay in April but the 7 inch version for 42 quid. It's worth about that...

The Wifi only worked when it wanted to
    It crashed a lot
    It hardly ran any games
The resistive screen was frustratingly unresponsive
    Flash content ran like poo

Either grab an Archos bargain when they pop up or get your son a budget android phone with a capacitive screen.

Above is about right. It uses the almost infamous WM8650 chipset.

Thanks very much for taking the trouble to comment on why this is not such a good deal - very much appreciated. I thought considering the size of the screen it was a bargain - obviously not! But at least I now know what a resistive screen is,,, I'll never trust Amazon reviews again.

I'll wait a few days to see if the Archos 70 comes back in stock at CPW, otherwise I think I'll go for the Ainol.

    Thanks again :)
