Currys £119.99 reduced from £179.99..

This in my opinion is probably one of the best smart thermostats you can buy and this is the lowest price I have seen it. The feature that separates the tado from other brands is that tado will automatically turn your heating off when you go out and will turn it back on when you get close to home, unlike the nest and hive that will only send you a text message to remind you.

The blurb..

Mobile control

The TADO Smart Thermostat lets you control your home's heating from your iOS or Android device. You can adjust the temperature, change options and set timings from a single, simple to use app from anywhere in the world - all you need is an internet connection.

Smart heating

When you leave home, the temperature is automatically reduced to help save you money on your monthly bills. It's turned on again on the way home, so you can always walk into a warm home without needing to leave the heating on all day.

Because it's online, the thermostat can access live weather forecasting and adjusts the temperature accordingly. Whether we're blessed with a surprise April heatwave or suffering a typical British summer, you won't find yourself waking up to an uncomfortable house or wasting money on unneeded heating.

Compatible heating

The Tado Smart Thermostat either replaces your room thermostat or is wired directly into the heating system. You can do this yourself, which 95% of users do. It only takes around 30 minutes, with all instructions you need supplied in the box.

From there, just connect the Tado Bridge to your router and download the free app.

Enjoy the convenience of smart-heating with the TADO Smart Thermostat.

Bargain at this price. I doubt it's the new version though.

It's a tenner cheaper on tados own website, this is just a thermostat with no hub

I believe you are wrong this deal is for the thermostat and the internet bridge that normally sell for £179

Where does it state a bridge? There's no mention of it on the specification. It's just the thermostat you'd need a starter kit to get it to work which includes the bridge

Still renting my v1 from them - advantage it comes with a remote thermostat; great kit. The geolocation is unique and everyone knows about the other brands but this one is literally fit and forget.

Never sold sans bridge - useless without

Yes bedz you are correct. It's does not mention the bridge. But when you read the description of the same item but with installation it does not mention the bridge either. So how could they install it for you with no internet bridge. Think about it.
description link.

It includes the bridge. The bridge was never sold separately. Bought mine from currys 2 years ago.

the new v3 kit is available to rent for £3.99 per month direct from Tado, this may be of use for some rather than an outright purchase

Bit risky taking the plunge if you only get a thermostat. I bought one and it was called starter kit v2 tado bridge and thermostat still looks to me like just the thermostat unless someone can prove me wrong

It has the bridge. Currys also do one with installation for £199. It doesn't mention bridge either. If the bridge was separate, am sure it will be stated clearly. Moreover it's useless without the bridge.

I'm certain it will include 'a' bridge but my guess is it is the original bridge and not the newer HomeKit compatible one (if they ever get around to having it approved).

Spoke to Tado on Tuesday and they quoted £40 to upgrade the V2 bridge to the version which supports Apple HomeKit (when available).

Might take the plunge at this price

I recently left Tado. Been with them for years, rented my equipment and was also a Beta tester for the apps. This year they massively jacked up the rental - above the currently offered rates online. I also ordered the Rad valves when they first started taking orders last year, and ordered the V2 Bridge all of which they failed to supply. One of my mates has eventually just had his Rad valves delivered and he says they are very good. They are having big problems with equipment supply, Apple HK approval and their Customer Service has gone down the pan.

It's a pity as it is a nice system,

Don't forget to check to see if you need the Ext kit as this jacks the price up. Other devices such as Nest don't need the separate unit.

Equipment quality is good, very Apple esq.

That kit is just to make the Thermostat wireless I am led to believe, which is not something I require. Is a very expensive add-on tho if you want that feature.

Essentially yes. If you are replacing a current wired thermostat you shouldn't need it. If you don't have wires to the boiler you need one.

You also need it if you want to have control of your hot water. Without the extension kit the device is heating only.

I bought this and been living with it for a week and a half and I can't speak highly enough about it. The online walk through for install is idiot proof as long as you can use a screwdriver! I had to ring them about 1 wire which was sorted in minutes. I've had to email them about shortening the geofencing range which was replied to and done in a day.
I can confirm you do get the internet bridge you only need the extension kit for A if your thermostat is wireless or B if you want to use Tadonto schduel your hot water instead of your controller ( only really needed to turn hot water off if your on holiday and forget you can do it remotlty )

Good stuff. I have now bought the Amazon echo dot which links to the tado thermostat and can now control the temperature with just my voice. I feel this is a better option than buying the new tado bridge for £40..

Just to confirm as I'm reading contradicting statements. With the echo you only need the thermostat itself? no extension/ bridge? I.e the £120 device? thanks
