This deal may not be for everyone due to the high price but is a bargain none the same so please vote hot. I have been after a tag heuer watch for a while and was delighted to see the 3 years 0% deal on at Beaverbrooks as this would be the only way to afford it. Usually for a premium product, you dont get any discounts but a friend of mine in the trade said that the market is very quiet at the moment and that I may be able to get some money off. I rang the store and basically asked for 8% discount and they pretty much agreed straight away, saving me £150. They said that they wouldnt usually give a discount and 3 years 0% credit but at the moment they would. Fantastic deal.

Black Dial and Date at 3 O'Clock Position. Diameter 41mm. Water Resistant to 50 Metres. CV2014.BA0786

its not a bargain - youre paying a lot for the brand no matter how much they discount it.

But I thought this site was all about saving money, regardless of the brand. It may appeal to some people thats all. Just because its a Tag watch shouldnt mean that the item is not posted if you can get money off.

Sorry but there are better deals out there. Go to a Goldsmiths store at an outlet village, eg Cheshire Oaks, for a better deal, true they may not have every model in stock but they do have most. I got a Formula 1 digital chrono with 33% off.

Nice watch, but try find an independant authorised dealer for Tag, am confident you could get a 15% discount easy. But if you need 0% finance, this is an ok deal.

I bought a new watch out in Oz over Xmas, it was a toss up between this tag carrera and a Bell & Ross BR01-96.

I managed to get the Tag down to about £1200. But went away with the B&R in the end due to my surname and rareness. Managed a 20% discount!! - ok that was Oz, but there are the same huge profit margins here in the UK, am sure 15% is achievable.

fair enough, that's just my opinion. :o
for people who are looking for a tag this might be a good deal.

Just got back from Barbados. Nearly bought this DF out there for £1150. I know you have to get there but just saying if you are going somewhere were you can use USD and DF, you'll get much better value.
#7
Yeah.. walk into a shop with cash in your hand so they know that your serious and ask for a discount and you'll get it.

It's not a bargain anyway, must cost all of £100 to make and they're not particulary reliable. Plus they are a aspirational chav brand.

If they sell these in goldsmiths then surely you're better off using tesco clubcard points for it - therefor only PAYING 25%, in voucher value, instead.

Yes, it would take some time to collect so many points, but with the many 1000 point codes for £50 worth of wine etc, it could be done.
#10
Boris, you cant use the tesco vouchers at the outlet store only the high street shops, now if you were to buy at the high street then for whatever reason take it back and get a credit note...........
#11
Mark ups for this type of merchandise are 100% or more so securing 8% discount on a full retail price is pretty rank:p

£1500 for a watch....that's crazy! Surely there are better things to spend your money on...
#13
I think some of these watches are stunning and if you have the money to buy one then go ahead but this is not really a 'hot deal'. Yes you are paying for the brand but those appeals to some people. Shop around; I bought my husband one for his wedding present last year for $1,600 which works out about £800 for those who don’t know! This retails for £1,550 in the UK and was truly a 'hot deal'. It was no plain Tag Heuer either; it was the Black one with 11 Diamonds, model WJ1113.BA0575.

I am afraid you do not know what you are talking about.

You seem to know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

This is about moneysaving, not peoples 'judgement' on how much it is right to spend on a watch.

It is a matter of personal choice.

Some people prefer to spend their money on a few high quality items rather than than the contents of Poundland, fags, chips and value supermarket lager.
#16
Yeah the illustrated watch can be got for $2000, roughly £1000.

It'd be better to go out there and buy one and have a holiday as well;-)

Speaking as a non-chav who has had a Tag for the last 10 years, I can say they are top quality and extremely reliable. If you can afford one, I would recommend!

Sorry guys but this is going to get my vote, regardless of whether I'm looking to buy or not.

I've owned my current TAG for 4 years now and althought it needs a service (the joy of automatic watches) it works perfectly and has NEVER let me down.

Yes they are expensive, but IMO very well built and worth every penny.

Everyone has preferences on what they decide to spend their hard earned money on and for some, including me, it's quality watches.

Walking into a jewellers with cash will get you a discount, worked for me when I bought my Omega and the wifes Gucci in January, but even then I couldn't negotiate 8%. Plus not everyone has £1500 in cash floating around.

If you're looking for a watch and can afford it, I would highly recommend it. If you can't, please be fair to those that can.

I could easily afford this watch, but there is no way on this planet that I would spend that kind of money on a watch.

At the end of the day, all it does is tell the time of day.:whistling:

Now that really was a pointless comment now wasnt it? Everybody is entitled to spend what they want, on whatever they want. Some ppl would see spending thousands on big telly as pointless, others would not. Some people want a swanky motor, others just want to get from A to B in a banger.

This is a forum for saving cash. I see things here I wouldnt buy personally, but i dont feel the need to post a comment on them, I just dont read the thread.

If you think 1500 is too much for a watch, why on earth did you click a Tag Heuer link !?!?
#22
Must agree with most of the comments on here that you could have got it cheaper if you had shopped around more or gone on holiday, but most of these suggestions require you to have the £1500 in your pocket to spend on said watch now?

If I had £1500 in my pocket it probably wouldn't end up going on a watch (mainly 'cos I've already got a Tag). But in todays marketplace it's very difficult to save for an item and then actually buy it, something nearly always comes along and sort of depletes your savings, car repair, large fuel bill, cat takes ill, whatever.

So to me, 3 years 0% is worth considering. Not only do you get what you wanted now, you will also have "saved" around £225+ in interest from not actually withdrawing your £1500 from the bank to actually purchase your watch, if you see what I mean?

Hope that helps? Hope you enjoy the watch.

You seem to know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

This is about moneysaving, not peoples 'judgement' on how much it is right to spend on a watch.

That phrase really doesn't apply in a case like this. It's a peice of metal off a production line, not an ancient relic, not a family heirloom - just an expensive new watch.
#24
Don't see what the problem is with spending a lot on a watch. They are works of art in my opinion. To know the detail of all the tiny parts working away on your wrist is pretty cool!

I dropped £1600 on my Bell & Ross over Xmas, and have since spent £950 on a Sinn 756S. Am now getting the itch to get a Breitling Navitimer, which is £2k+

All those who spend their cash on gadgets - how much are they worth after a year? Answer - next to nothing.

A decent watch will be worth 80% of it's value for years and years, there is a big 2nd hand market. Some will even appreciate in value.

Anywho, rant over. Spend your hard earned how you like!!

But this example is just giving a jeweller over £500 for selling you a watch that is way overpriced even at cost-price.

Buying quality is nothing to do with branding - even tho' people in this country have become such brand snobs that Ford and Vauxhall can't sell cars here anymore.

I don't buy fags, chips or value supermarket lager. But someone who pays more to buy Domestos bleach versus own label bleach in the belief that it is "better" is plain daft.

Similarly, there are watches that are as functionally and aesthetically as good as any Brand but people want to buy something that is 10 or 20 times more expensive because they think it says something about them. Yes, it says you're a pillock:p
#26
Hence why i bought a Sinn, the man on the street has no idea what it is, is packed with features and is a bargain at £950 [no discount as only 1 co. allowed to sell them in the UK as in the Usa]

How long is the guarantee period on this Tag Watch ??

Top 4 best selling cars March 2007 - Focus - Astra - Fiesta - Corsa

Can some one tell me who makes them as I am a snob and wish to avoid Ford and Vauxhall cars!

That's only 'cos the rental and fleet market take them at massive discounts.

Look at the stats for private sales:p

What a lot of fuss, it was good of Monkeymagik to tell everyone about what, in their opinion, is a good deal. So what if some people wouldn't spend that much money on a watch! So what if you can pay cash or need credit. I think the sort of remarks I sometimes read about people's postings would make others think twice before posting. Each to his own.

PS I would never drink supermarket value lager ;-)

PPS Wouldn't say 'no' to a Tag watch though (bought a fake in Gran Canaria many years ago, it's still going strong!) :-)

Haha brilliant. Tag watches are the best, extremely accurate mechanism, great design and elegant looks. Havent been fortunate to have one at the moment but am liking the F1 range at the moment, maybe when i get my bonus later this year.
#33
prefer rolex now someone post where you can get a deal on one of them :-0
#34
I bought my Tag Heuer Kirium in New York back in 2000. The same watch cost £690 there and £1195 here. Ludicrous :)
#35
I just wish I had £1500.... and I do drink supermarket lager...
#36
Each to their own, is what i say....and as for buying domestos over value bleach is daft, i prefer quality not quantity :-D
#37
Value is in the pocket of the beholder, my bro. used to have a Swatch watch when he was at school.

He thought it was great value at £20. I thought it was overpriced tasteless fashion accessory.

Now he is v. successful he has a couple of Breitlings, a rolex, and several Tags. I think these are overpriced tasteful fashion accessories.

I bought the swatch from him (how the hell do you think he becme ludicrously wealthy!!!) and still wear it.

Waiting (probably in vain) for the hand-me-down Breitling.

At the end of the day, we all want/can afford/desire different things.

That doesn't mean they are a waste of money/poor value, just that they would be to you.
