Taken - the extended "harder cut"

Good little film, plenty of violence and very entertaining in my opinion.

Very cheap considering it's more or less double the price elsewhere.

Want to see this film, so thanks for the heads up :)

Hmmm - I use DVDpricecheck.com - they seem to be useless.

They have Taken at Play.com coming up at £13

On the Play site itself however it's only £4.99, plus a bit of quidco, so I guess it ain't the wass, huge deal of the century I thought it was.

Never mind.

Hot, as nice price for a good film, but I stopped getting DVDs a few years ago.

Buying DVDs now is a bit like getting VHS tapes 10in 8-9years ago, come this christmas I expect HiDef media and TVs to tumble. Also CEX second hand bluray prices rival new dvd prices if not better.

errr - okay - but...............

(a) i don't have an HD television.

(b) i'm not going to buy another TV until this one dies.

(c) DVD's are here to stay for a few years yet i reckon

(d) for the price of a burger meal i'm happy enough.

scrumpypaul, i imagine lots of people not in a rush to buy a pricey tv in a recession, i don't blame them, but admitedly I'm a bit of a fanboy having had one now for 3 and half years. Bluray won't ever match the colossal sales DVDs had, not with broadband and FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet allowing for 100-200mbit VDSL2+) to homes on the horizon spoiling media sales with online streaming/preloading etc.

Just my geeky tupence :)

Unfortunately for you, no, but maybe that's fortunate for the rest of us. It's like an Arnie or JCVD film, love it for what it is. Not all films have to be deep and meaningful, each to their own.

Wasn't this £3 the other week?
#13
I was totally surprised by this film - its great - you really want LN to give the crims a good kicking! Heat
#14
plenty of violence

Sad, really.

I don't care what the moaners here reckon. Pure and simply, this is one of the greatest films i've ever seen.
#16
excellent film, one of the bgest films in the last 5 years and yesd it doesnt rely on any cgi....also state of play is another equally excellent film for those who havent seen it and yes it doesnt rely on cgi...seems to be a theme - finally the movie producers are getting the message, use cgi by all means to enhance a good film but not as its main selling point...having said that the plane crash in the average film knowing is probably the best sequence of cgi ever

I'm not usually a fan of "leave your brain at home action flicks", but this was great fun.

I thought this film was utter tosh. Fine if you are a 15 year old lad who reads the Daily Star, or an American worried about European travel.

#26
This is an excellent film.
#27
And hour-and-a-half of fun - excellent. Hot deal too!

One thing though - anyone else notice that Liam Neeson can't run!

An utterly forgettable film.

It's like 24, but without any of the redeeming features of that severely limited show.

The characters are so black and white that you have to wonder what type of audience this was made for.
#29
...so if its forgettable, this thread isn't for you

brilliant film

Its an enjoyable film neither amazing or awful it sits in the middle. The build up to the main story in the beginning is a bit slow, the popstar bit is crap. Generally the action scenes are excellent and the story very good. It doesn't exactly feel fresh but its well executed. A bit like a bond film you know whats going to happen but you enjoy it anyway. No real surprises but well done. Once you've watched it though you don't really need to see it again. A rental rather than a keeper.

From a Gun toting, isolationist, America is great, everywhere else is crap, look how dangerous outside the US is, kill the baddies violently, protect your family, point of view, it ticks all the boxes :)

I'm still a HiDef not-buying-dvds-anymore fanboy :)

But that description does accurately reflect who this film is targeted at, for the most part.

Oh and i forgot to mention sexist.
