You can usually do this in the configuration page for a router although I don't know if every router allows this.

Are there any reviews of this around? I'm looking to buy a wireless modem router and usb adaptor for use with the Dell Dimension E520 deal, is this compatible with Vista and AOL broadband?
#9
I'm also interested in reviews! It seems a good deal.

But looking at the Talk Talk web site they no longer sell this router (I'm sure they used to when I last checked), and instead offer one by Netgear.

Cpmpatible with Dell Dimension E520 deal ? - YES
Compatible with Vista and AOL broadband? - YES

If the gateway is same as US Robotics, as pointed by Iom-RF, here is a review :-

First I'd like to say thanks to ebuyer for a very fast delivery. Ordered Thursday and arrived Friday morning.

I bought this item to set up a wireless network at home and I wanted a router that could be plugged straight into the phone line rather than being controlled through a computer. USR are a big brand company so I thought it would be a good place to start. The price was also very good. When it arrived I had a brief look through the manual then went straight to work setting up a network. I unplugged my broadband modem and plugged the USR into the socket. In order to set it up you do need to connect it to a PC via a LAN cable. You then start up internet explorer and type in the routers IP address. This takes you to the router settings menu. Here you type in your broadband user name and password etc. Then switch on the wireless access point and set up WEP, WPA or both security, then log out again. Job done. You can either leave it connected to the PC via LAN or you can just leave it hidden somewhere and access it via a wireless USB or PCI card etc... It was very easy indeed and I am very pleased with it. If you were wondering I use Virgin Broadband and had no problems, it also works with games machines without any problems.

how does this compare with the netgear one posted the other day which is £20 more expensive?

Think i'll get this!

I have got this talktalk modem, when I phoned up for tech support the other day, the chap on the other end said I need to know what model the modem is so I checked and although it says talktalk he said oh you need to get in touch with philips, its one of their modems. When I signed up for talktalk I paid £50 for this and wireless key because in the small print it says if you don't have one of our modems we wont offer tech support! By the way the problem I was experiencing was nothing to do with the modem it was to do with no broadband from the server so all in all the modem and key is quite a good deal.

You'll need to get your adsl settings off your old sky netgear router to use this as Sky dont give you these details. Im assuming you know all about that and the hacks that are available to do so.

This certainly seems a good deal.

I have Talk Talk, I want to get xbox live for my xbox 360, but some1 informed me that not all ISPs let u use xbox live. Any1 know whether I can or not.

I see from the review someone gave it, they said that this modem worked fine for games machines, so I should be ok for this on the 360 shouldn't I? Will I be able to use the Wireless USB adaptor for my 360?
#20
Great price. Dont need one but will recommend to a friend.
#21
If you are going to use this router make sure you keep the connection alive all the time as the wireless does not wake the modem up to connect.
You might be connected to the router but the router will not auto connect if you are just using wireless.
Hope this helps people who are going to buy this.
#22
This is almost certainly a US Robotics piece of kit, it has 4 wired connectors as opposed to the listed US Robotics one that has only one wired connection.

Great Value.

It means you can also connect 4 computers (without wireless cards) using network cables to the router.
#25
Anyone know if this will be ok to use with the xbox 360?

Excellent find edi. Just passed it on to a TalkTalk customer here at work who wanted to upgrade from his USB modem. They don't get much cheaper than this.

I am hardly an experienced PC user, but it means simply that you can connect up to 4 computers via cable to this unit, as well as the wireless options.

Mine is on order.. ;-)

Pc wont need to be on, only the router. As for the USB adapter I doubt you can connect this to xbox 360, although I havent tested it so cannot comment. The original 360 adapter should pick up wireless from this router fine though.

May get one of these to keep as a spare.
