They can't be the only providers they are probably the only LLU providers. Is your phone line with BT now?

I concur on this shitness of talktalk, they also often wont let you out of your 24 month contract once you realise how terrible their service actually is.

Yes they are my LLU providors, where else can i get free evening and weekend calls, free local calls 24/7, free 0845/0870 calls 8mb broadband, line rental for £16.60 a month ( average over 18 months inc. connection fee & cashback) ???

I'm always amused to see who first rubbishes a new listing. :-D

But I have to say, jellycake's views are shared quite widely here.

Only trouble is the cheeky ****s have introduced a £29.99 connection fee, it was FREE connection last month (with free D-Link router)

What speed do you get and who's your ISP?

I get this with talk talk, rock solid connection 24/7, could you beat that with your ADSL broadband ISP please, if not shut the hell up.
Downstream Rate: 18516 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 1017 Kbps

Actually both your comments are equally irrelevant. Of course some people will slate them as 'rubbish' without any grounds, as they would for any ISP deal. But telling everyone you get 18.5meg download from talktalk adsl is FAR from representative of the sorts of speed 95% of their customers actually get. So, one person slating them, one person raving about them - the two extremes.

IMO, they have some good prices. Deffo not for me, but I can see why some people choose to use them - just don't expect the sort of speeds badass claims to be getting.

Yeah free connection has ended , but now its £50 cashback so £20 better and you still get a free wireless router

Why is that mate? what tariff were you on? :?

There are better ISPS out there im sure, no one else has found a cheaper deal tho, like i say in my situation they are about £10 a month cheaper that other alternatives

I was on £10 2mb silver package on a BT line non LLU

Dear MR. Deanos,

At AOL Broadband we’re always looking to offer you the best possible service and value. We were one of the first providers to introduce a flat rate broadband connection, and we now have over a million broadband customers enjoying faster speeds thanks to our automatic upgrades.

However, due to the increased cost in maintaining a broadband service in your area, there will be a change to your monthly broadband subscription. From your next bill after the 21st July, your broadband package will cost £17.99 a month. This price change will happen automatically with no interruption to your service.

I've been with TalkTalk for 3 years and get a brilliant service off them.

I might be in the same boat then, I'm on a silver up to 8mb retention deal (free calls to landlines 24/7) for £9.99 all in, thanks for the heads up.

You think they want all their customer base under talk talk? :?:?

or is it the non LLU exchange?
I'm BT line LLU

I joined talk talk last month. Second week in my phone was down for 4 hours and my internet was down for 4 days:-( They blamed the storms down south on the trouble. My phone was never down with BT and for all I complained about AOL I had never been without internet for that long in the time I was with them.
#14
Just remember that your sync speed is NOT the same as the speed of your internet.

Talk talk is great if your a casual surfer, but at peak times (appears anytime from 10am till about 12pm) it's throttled to hell. You might as well have a 1mbps connection.

Talk talk is probably the best example of 'you get what you pay for' in the world of the internet.
#15
dcx_badass
Mines not throttled ever, I sync at 18.3 meg, but have an 8 meg cap unless I pay the extra £4 which I will do in August, but with the 8 meg cap I download at 960kb/s no matter what time of the day it is, never goes any slower for me.

I will admit the phone support is useless but if you use this instead:
http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/

Then it's really good and I've had problems fixed that I've reported at 6pm on a sunday sorted by 11pm that night, that forum is great and really efficient, it's run by talk talk.

not much of a quota per month though? 40Gb

or pay extra an upgrade to a "Massive 80Gb" :whistling:

shame you can't get a different LLU service. Costs me £17.50 per month for O2 BB inc BT line rental with no caps or quota.

If it's a choice between this or Orange though you probably got an OK deal.
#16
Just switched from aol to talktalk 5 days ago because it's same company they didn't charge £29.99 fee and so far so good remember you have 30 days to send it back
#17
My girlfriend's mum has talk talk and its never been a problem(phone wise).
Although the internet has never been over 1mb!

40gb will be fine for me and isnt too bad when compared to others , i have heard great things about O2 but they dont have plans to come here

Great service here. I get broadband, phone line rental and national calls 24/7 free for an average of £20 a month which I think is a good deal considering it costs £10 a month just for phone line rental with BT. I download all the time without any problems and has never let me down. I can download at over 1mb/sec from file sharing sites if there are seeders.

Voted hot for the price but I found Talk Talks technical service to be shocking.

Our next door neighbour has Talk Talk and works from home. I got a text from her (sad but it saved walking out of the door ....) to ask if my broadband was ok. Turns out hers had been down for a couple of days and Talk Talk were saying it was a problem with her PC and/or Router. I took my laptop over with a spare Netgear router - same problem. No connection, no sync with the exchange - nothing. I spoke to their "technical" helpline in India who were trying to convince me her machine had a virus on etc etc. When I explained we'd tried another router, another PC and then told them I was connected straight to the master test socket etc they gave up. I then asked to speak to a UK tech guy who verified that the line was down and it was a knackered switch at the exchange. He'd try and reset it from there but couldn't guarantee it was going to work.

To cut a long story short, my neighbour was still borrowing my internet for almost a week before they managed to fix their fault at their end.

I'm with BE and have had the usual BE problems (poor DNS and occasional intermittent loss of internet) but I'd say I've got around a 99% uptime and the tech support is great.

Be* beats that easy, great value and consistency
unlimited (40gb is nothing if ur utilizing those speeds)
so it beats talktalk clean

Downstream Rate: 19435 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 1282 Kbps

Cheap £18, and there was 3 months free a while back. By far the best in UK for speed enthuisasts.
All the people i know on talktalk hate it so clearly not good.
#23
talk talk are awful always cutting off. i recommend sky broadband its perfect never had a problem.
#24
Definitely worth checking if you are on an exchange served by Be & o2 LocalLoopUnbundled kit.

If so and you have an o2 mobile it is a no brainer as one year's service at upto 24Mbps for 38.11net cost for first year ie 3.18/month and even without an o2 mobile already you can get upto 8Mbps service for 56.06/first year ie 4.67m

Checkout my features/cost/comparison of all the 17 differently priced Be/o2 packages at

As you stated later in the post that is your synch rate not your throughput so that's just down to your excellent line quality. What's your actual download speed?

Besides my main issue with talk talk is their terrible tech support and customer service. I don't doubt that there are a few lucky individuals out there getting a great internet connection with talk talk. But if things ever go wrong with your line you will see what a shambles they really are.

To be fair it often takes that long to get an engineer out to an exchange with BT, no excuses made for their tech support though it's ****.

Been a onetel/talktalk victim,,,never again,,,
#28
I used to have talktalk, c/s are the short draw but the service itself was pretty good IIRC - the same way with many providers I guess.... (did anyone else have the Bulldog experience? Now they really were shocking....)
#29
Well I have Talktalk got the last year and they might 'talk the talk' but their broadband reliablity means they don't 'walk the walk' also you 'sign' out of BT so when you leave you face a connection fee to go to A N Other ISP to get BT back.......
#30
Its now free connection on the Talk Talk site, anyone who has signed up using this offer ring up TT as they have credited me the £29.99 , and ive still got my £50 to come LOL !
#31
Got connected yesterday, so far so good !

Don't dare say anything bad about Talk Talk on their forum, the Moderators will remove it in an instant.;-)

Sorry but from previous experience, I've not met anyone who can make Tiscali look good.

Even British Gas with a 3 month query and misread bills ended up giving better service than my experience with Tiscali.

Looks like they have flicked the switch
