Existing customers with TalkTalk broadband can go into My Account, choose the "Offers and Upgrades" tab, then "Add TV". This should offer a free TV Plus box, on condition of adding the Starter TV Boost for one month at a cost of £5. Just remember to cancel it in a couple of weeks, so you only pay for one month.

The TalkTalk TV Plus box is an HD Freeview recorder with YouView, which will even work once the Boost is cancelled.

TCB also has £21 for upgrading to a package with TV, so maybe worth a shot too.

Only problem is that with Talk Talk you'll be lucky to get enough speed to watch anything on it.
#2
You'll be tied into an 18 or 24 month contract pal.

Hope this helps.

Just enjoying my 80mb Talk Talk connection, never ceases to amaze me how one person has a bad experience with a company therefore they are the worst in the world.
BT aren't exactly angels either, like my old boss used to say
"even Rolls Royce have mechanics", not everybody is perfect.

Getting over 59 Meg on my talktalk fibre. The only thing I'd be wary about is being able to cancel before the end of the month. If it's like th last offer I had to phone to cancel as they wouldn't allow it to be done online.

In this case it would be everyone I know of had very slow speeds and terrible customer support when with Talk Talk, I've never spoken to anyone who says anything good. Maybe it's just the area I'm in? You're right about BT.

I've been with TalkTalk for ages and found the service to be great - no issues.

Are you sure? When you go to the order page, it says "Minimum 1 month contract" - hence being able to cancel it after the first month.

The extra channels, IE sky starter boost, entertainment, sports, kids or movies boost are minimum 1 month commitment, by taking the stb you will be committing to a long term contract. IE 18 or 24 month.

I would check first that you are not entering into a new 18 month contract I been with talk talk for years and i find them great but when you do have to phone in for anything then its at least a 30 min call to sort out anything

By the way any one with a talk talk account can get a free sim deal that gives you 200 min , unlimited text , 200 MB data a month for free while you are with them , great if your not a heavy user

I couldn't find anything that says this in the terms - in fact it says:

"Can I add TV at any stage?
Yes. You can add TalkTalk TV to your plan at any time in My Account. TalkTalk TV lets you pick & mix your perfect TV package with a range of flexible TV boosts, all with just a 1 month commitment so you’re never tied into lengthly contracts.

FREE TV Plus Box offer applies when taken with the TV Starter Boost (at £5 per month). Features pause and rewind (for up to 2 hours), record (up to 180 Standard Definition hours), access to around 80 Freeview channels, 7 day catch up (available for certain channels only and not all programmes available on channels where catch up is available), and access to TV Boosts and on demand content. Freeview channels are subject to location and other factors. Please see Freeview for more information. You need to connect your TalkTalk TV Box to the internet and your TV aerial."

at https://www.talktalk.co.uk/shop/explore-tv - which I read as that the contract length of the existing plan remains, but that the TV service just gets added onto it.

Of course, I am happy to be corrected if there's something in the terms to the contrary that I've missed.
