Product Detail
Maintaining the high performance of the previous model, this 28-300mm zoom lens now features Tamron's "Di" design, making it the ideal lens for use with both digital and film cameras. The "Di" design is achieved by applying a new optical design to its coated surfaces. Whether you shoot film or digital, the lens provides high image quality for both platforms. When used with APS-C size digital SLR cameras, the lens provides an angle of view equivalent to approximately 44-465mm, covering the standard to ultra telephoto range with little sacrifice of quality or aperture range.

Seems to be some problems with the VC model, just as well it isn't on this one on offer

oops double post.

It's an akward size. 28mm is not wide enough to be used as an 'only' lens. If you have to have two lenses anyway, and most standard lens cover up to 55mm, you would need from 55mm which makes the lens a lot smaller. Or you need to buy another lens to cover the wide angle. For a non-Canon addition to a standard lens, imo, not useful. Others may disagree.

Fair comment, but there are many other lenses with good image stabilisation available.

This lens has narrow aperture, so blurring due to camera shake is a real problem unless you're using a tripod.

But as long as you know the limitations, it's a great buy.

Ive just picked the formentioned lens and so far, so good. It seem a hell of a lot better than my 18-55mm IS canon lens.

Voted hot but I think the Sigma is better for a little more (£139.46)

I own the sigma, and I must say, I think it is absolutely **** for general use. Having said that, I got it for £50 back when Dixons were clearing them out instore ages ago, and am being a little stuck up now that I've learned a little more about photography. If used outdoors in good light, you may get get the best out of it.

It all depends on how much you're willing to pay. The Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8L series lens is considered (by most, if not, then defo me anyway) to be the best overall general use lens. But it costs around £700

Way more than I can afford, so I bought the sigma version just a few days ago: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod171.html Very very happy with it! I had a bunch of jessops gift vouchers, along with a daily mail voucher, and used the code JESSOPS5 to reserve in store and got it dirt cheap :santa:

Correct. In fact you'll find that IT WON'T EVEN FIT A NIKON CAMERA AS THIS IS A CANON FIT!!!
