With this 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens, flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 37.4", enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects that normally require the use of a specially designed macro lens. Moreover, this is a zoom lens that casually offers the distant capture and foreshortening effect pleasures of the 300mm ultra-telephoto world.

Same price for Canon & NIkon also - Was £169

Good find, im tempted also.
3% quidco. Tried code: QUIDCOFIVE but site would not permit use :-(

So could be £2.98 ish cheaper with just the quidco if it tracks and they pay up.

Anyone comment on the quality of these lenses?

Just been reading reviews and they say they are ok for the money but slow to auto focus and heavy I think one said compared to Sonys lenses.

I was considering it for the macro as I have a £20 voucher to use but think i'll just be duplicating my 75-300mm Sony lens with this now.

Thanks Halyhoo, still haven't sussed out adding pics. A few reviews here http://www.dyxum.com/reviews/lenses/Tamron-AF-70-300-F4-5.6-LD-Macro_review111.html.

I know its not the best in the world, but for the money can't suggest a better one. And Jessops had mine delivered on Wednesday having ordered it Monday AM, not bad sevice.

Defintely worth adding to your collection for a hundred quid if you don't currently have anything to cover the focal range.
