After 3 yrs and 10 months of saving (and spending!) a fortune, I thought id give something back! first post, so be a little gentle.

I just brought this today for £199 at jessops in-store at the Brighton branch. I couldn’t find it online for the sony, so called Jessop’s HQ and they confirmed this is now the price across all stores. Hope this helps someone else.

Amazon and others are charging at least £150 more!

Now before we all slate the brand, just remember how little this is for a ultra wide angle. sigma and tokina do comparable lenses, but at much inflated prices. This is a good deal for the amateur photographer getting into lenses beyond the standard kit supplied with the original body.
Manufacturer's Description

Jessops will never sell anything for Nikon or Canon at a really good price. Sucks, but still rather have my Nikon.

Not true, I got a Sigma 17-70 F/2.8-4 for £89 for Nikon a couple of years ago. The store had two at the time. Perhaps it was when the HSM versions were being phased in.

checked with jessops who checked with the warehouse and confirmed that none in stock, as the lens had compatibility issues with sony and the production was stopped.

Me too. You'd have to pry my D700 and 24-70 f2.8 from my cold dead hands.

What compatibility issues would that be then...........cos I have this lens and no probs at all. Also as MOD on a Sony group elsewhere there are more than 20 members who got this when it was £249 and not 1 person has mentioned ANY problems at all.

So where did you get that info because I'm interested and would like to confirm this with Tamron ????

Well I find this rather amazing................because they are still selling it.

in-fact, one of the guys in a group I am part of tried to get this at the discounted price and Jessops had it for sale but at the full price......as per the Canon/Nikon price.

Now if there is an issue with Sony and that lens..................maybe Jessops should tell ALL the staff..................or as I think, she is talking rubbish.

I think there is no issue with this lens and Sony units at the moment. The newer Sony camera's Just coming out this month? Now maybe there is an issue with them but as far as I am aware there is absolutely NONE!!

Sorry mate, I think that girl in Jessops is talking total rubbish.
