Has great reviews at much higher price points than this. I'd be tempted to swap by Monitor Audio BX2s for these if I had a bit more cash at the moment!

Edit: come with a 5 year warranty from Tannoy so I wouldn't bother with RicherSounds' warranty

Great deal. Prefer floorstanding myself though.

Superb speakers, buy them - you will not be disappointed. I've a pair of SIgnature DC6T's and there easily the best I've owned under 2k. £200 is a steal, I must resist!

BX2's are a great little speaker - these as your aware are in a different league however. I'd think with the price rises on the BX2's over the years they'd fetch a good price used, so long as they were in good condition.

Damn it, stop tempting me! My BX2s are mint and boxed so should get a decent price. Even if I only got £130 it would cost me £70 for the upgrade. Do you think my little Onkyo CR-N755 would do them justice? Might order anyway in case they go OOS and cancel if I change my mind....

Shame , I am moving soon and will have a small ish front room ,would sell my q acoustic 2050s and buy these but can't right now :(
But hot from me (especially if paired with the right amp)

I was looking at these after receiving the email.

Can someone give me some advice please.

Are the Mission M33i at £149.95 better than these?

If I wanted to connect TV, PS3 for now and be future proof what would be a good receiver to get? Do not mind spending a bit more for quality.

Also I have 2500 cds stored on a 1TB external hard drive so how would I access them through the receiver?

Thank you.

I am liking the Sony STRDN 1050. That is an impressive looking specification but would these speakers work with it okay for the next 6 months until upgraded them?

I couldn't resist - will swap out the dc6t's in the bedroom (where there overkill) for these. Good excuse for a new amp for the lounge.

For people wondering - these are quality - and deserve to be driven by something much better than a receiver.

I have no idea how many units they'll have tbh, it totals out for 999 units so who knows. I only met Julian once but my experience is they don't mess about with small quantities of anything. That said there a steal - anyone buying some bookshelf speakers would be a fool not to buy these whilst there around. Rarely do you see 50% discount on quality hifi like this. Tannoy have history with big discounts - my dc6t sig's we're reduced from £1400 (too much competition at that £) to £800 - but that reduction was everywhere.

Your onkyo won't get anywhere near the best out of these but I think it should drive them ok, it depends n your ear though how much of an improvement you'll note over the MA's. I've never heard them side by side. What these will give you is a speaker for life that'll outlive that onkyo many times - i'd think you'd be looking at the £500-£750 bracket to find an amp that'll make a rounded system.

Do it - I would in a heartbeat. Looking on the bay Bx2's sell well - there's obv good demand - prices range from £125 - £200 - prob dependent on finish / box and condition.

The obvious thing to do is listen and see what you like better but if you could do that you probably wouldn't be asking here. Speakers will sound different depending on set up with some suiting one set up better than the next. That said I'm confident the Tannoys are a better overall speaker and if it were one or the other I know which ones I would buy.

I'm not gonna make any recommendations for amps/recievers as there are so many to choose from and I don't which ones are currently the best buy but as far as streaming music goes I would google Squeezebox if I were you. They no longer make them but there are plenty available second hand in various forms and they are brilliant!

Does anyone know how these would compare to my B&W 601 s2 speakers? thanks

Thank you for your advice and it seems the best thing to do is make a trip to Richer Sounds and have a listen.

It seems if you want better quality music then an amplifier is the route to go as opposed to using a receiver but if you had separate amplifier and receiver to have the best of both worlds is it possible to use one set of speakers for both?

But if sound quality is your main concern, I can take you down a different route, speakers ok either way, though.

For the best sound quality under 2 grand, would recommend NuForce DDa-100, which then doesn't require a dac, just straight from PC to amp to speakers. Also has an optical out, which could hand off to sony.

It is always a balance between quality and price but what were you thinking?

Would this pair ok with with a Denon AVR-X2000?
I have a better NAD amp that I'm keeping in storage (that I'd rather use with these speakers), but currently I'd be plugging the speakers into the Denon.

Thanks, I've got the last pair at my local richer sounds reserved. Will give them a listen and decide then. If I get them I'll just want to upgrade the rest of my system though. Slippery slope...

Just been reunited with my Cyrus One amp & Rega Planar turntable. Looking for some decent speakers. JBL Control 1s are fine for home cinema but suck with music.

They seem to have good reviews and awards at a higher price. Some people are saying the b&w 685s are better but are more expensive. Worse case seems to be to buy and try and if you do not like them then sell them on Ebay and you should get your money back.

Unusual design having the tweeter actually recessed behind the mid/bass cone driver, guess it works, but I am sceptical of that odd design personally.

cheers for the info.I had a look at the 685s but their way out of initial price range.

Im only on phone but if its possible to find the wharfedale diamonds still they look like the better pick. At least value wise for the cheaper budgets!

Currently use Presonus Eris E5 Monitors for music/movies. Will these be an upgrade? and what amp/receiver should I get to drive them? Not looking to spend more than £150-£200 on top of the cost of the speakers.
