GRAMMAR NAZI ALERT!

That resolution is for a widescreen monitor, so for everyday surfing etc. this is a bargain. Hot!

I got one of these for around the same price when the Fratton Store was refurbished, very good value for money. Speakers are naff but display is excellent. Buy a couple and put one on ebay. Heat added........

make sure you get there early - the first 20 people in the shop or whatever will all be after these :)
Often they do a free 'goody bag' of assorted items for the first people coming in.

They are 1280 x 1024 which is 1310720 pixels and 1440 x 900 is 1296000 so you are actually get more delicious pixel fun :p
#8
1440X900 is ideal to movie watching. 1280x1024 is better for working, so, which u prefer?

:o

1440 x 900 is widescreen

1280 x 1024 is 4:3

I would much rather have the widescreen resolution, it has become the standard now.

oh and just think of the "delicious pixel fun" you lose when viewing movies on the 4:3 monitor :whistling:
#10
id rather watch dvds on a delicious sized tv and use a small screen like this for email etc
#11
You've missed my point... not being 1440 is not a bad thing as others have said and I more than aware that widescreen video is better on a widescreen monitor :|
#12
A widescreen desktop is far better than a 4:3 desktop too.

Whilst the offer is a good one be prepared to sit in traffic getting there.

Southall is bad at the best of times with the traffic lights controlled junction 150 metres away from this store the cause of most of it.

Sorry to be pedantic but 1280 x 1024 is actually 5:4. Optimum resolution for emulating Amiga resolutions though!

It's become a standard but there are still a lot of 4:3 monitors around and they'll still the better shape for a lot of things.

this is true, a good piece of advice is that if you are after anything best not too early but just around the opening time cause alot of the people in southall are mad and dont care about being civilised.
i am thinking of being there at exactly 8am.
im not too fussed about the offers so im just going to try my luck.
the traffic there is crazy, but at 8am its smooth as anything. its at 12pm when it starts to go mad, also all the other indian shops dont open untill around 10am so there wont be much to do untill then if anyone wants to check out the stuff in southall.

Thats a bargain price

I am currently using one of these monitors, the 19-4, set at 1440 x 900. Paid £69.99 for it 3weeks ago when a new Lidl opened. :x Why do the soft southerners get all the bargains. Good picture, no dead pixels. As mentioned the speakers are rubbish (but most are) and the input is analogue only. For £50 a bargain.

edit: The spec on the targa website for the 19-4 is completely different to the spec of the monitor I have. There were 2 different boxes in store but the monitors looked the same.

I mght have to check this out, I only live in the next town! Southall is a bitch to get around though, people drive like mad there!

It seems that some don't know why we still champion 4:3 computer monitors. Basically, I work with video and I can see a huge amount of tracks on my 19" 4:3 screen set at 1280x1024. Whereas the equivalent widescreen monitor with the same height to view the same amount of tracks is, a 22" monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution!

I hope this helps understand why some stick with 4:3 monitors from time to time. I only have a widescreen monitor for gaming.

i was first one in didnt even have to que but there was a massive que on the main door - but as i parked my car in their car park there was no que from that door :). I was the first one in and paid and out with 6 yes SIX of these tft's and two sewing machines before 8AM - and they were meant to open at 8AM. I was quite happy now everyone at the office gets a 19" tft and sewing machine for the women (they may get some work done- lol)

Yea I got there just as it struck 8. Got Inside and it was like all hell had broke loose. There was even a fight over the car stereos and women were fighting over the sewing machines (I kid u not).

I didn't think I would be able to get myself a screen but luckily after wrestling it out of another persons grasp I secured one. In my whole life I had never seen a scene like it, all the adults had lost their morals and were all fighting and acting like young kids.

Well all I can say is that im happy with my purchase and am viewing this page wih it right now. And tough nuts to anyone who wasn't able to get one. Thats how the cookie crumbles unfortunatley :p

this is the first reason i didnt go, "out with 6 yes SIX of these tft's" i knew this would happen.

this is the second reason "all the adults had lost their morals and were all fighting and acting like young kids." thats how some people are in southall. even if you had been there since 7am, with the uncivilised people in southall, your bound to have a fight if your 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the queue.

hope you people enjoy your puchases. do you know how many tft's did they have !.

You know what they actually had quite a few but they just couldn't get them out of the storage room fast enough as people swamped them and wouldn't backup and give them space. People were taking like two each there was plenty to go around but try telling that to those uncivilised neanderthalls!!

I arrived at 7:50am, joined the queue which started moving fairly quickly. I then witnessed a large pile of monitors disappear through the window...I wasn't happy to say the least. Lidl need to implement a one-per-customer rule. I got in before 8am and was out within ten minutes having somehow managed to get a monitor from the warehouse. I've never seen so many tiny, borderline insane, women swarming about. Lidl have denied rumours of a fight, but it wouldn't have surprised me.

Give Lidl credit, though. They must have had one to two hundred monitors alone, and I'm extremely happy with it.

Wow, sounds amazing! PLEASE tell me you filmed the whole thing on your mobile phone/camcorder? Uploaded it to YouTube? In fact, you could almost certainly have paid for the items you bought by selling your photos/video to a news company/tabloid, as it would appear they missed all the action, and they usually love this kind of story... even more so when you consider the current "doom & gloom" economic climate...
