i was aware that u get cashback with some sites so might be better looking at thoses sites, chances are theyre only gonna cost a few pence more. the reason i didnt do this is because i dont know which sites give cashback or what quidco is, so thought i would just post the cheapset found.

Great find OP, to everyone else, don't forget that if Amazon is very much cheaper (or for anything on Amazon), you can collect Nectar points too instead of Quidco :)

Snow white is just being released from the disney "vault" so is 15 quid everywhere, probably until around xmas. They do the same thing every year, have the BOGOF then release another classic. I cant wait for lion king to resurface. H+R

 quidco pays out the best cashback most of the time but they charged you a fiver a year fee (which they take off your first 5 pound received in cashback).
another one that is free is www.cashbackkings.com which has some sites such as boots that aren't on quidco
every penny helps  this is a fab thread though & have left h&r :)

I posted a deal almost identical to this 2 days ago, except this poster has found some of them 1p cheaper (but not with quidco, so for the mostpart worse) or actually just copied them. There're two new one, Tarzan from play and The Incredibles from Amazon. Come on moderators, this is a joke. Shouldn't it have been expired long before it reached 350 degrees? Not impressed at all. :x

Apologies, i did not see this post yesterday! so i certainly did not "just copy".
if i had seen this posted i certainly would not have used my time to search for all these films at pennies cheaper! i do not copy peoples threads ever.....
#25
I'm not angry at you, I appreciate you might not have been aware of my post and after all it's just a deal forum! :p But i' m not impressed generally, the mods should definately have stopped it at the beginning. I think you'll agree, It undermines the whole hotukdeal system and makes them look silly (no general disrespect intended ) And in the end i've lost out on a bonfire worth of heat and rep, which in actual terms might be meaningless, but I think most HKUDers will agree still gives a warming sense of satisfaction and achievement, and motivates them to find more deals.
#26
i dont agree! u were angry at me merely by suggesting that i had just copied! but youre happy now that you've had the thread closed. seems i helped a few people by posting........ imo its not a double thread because as you say even if it is only pennies i still found them cheaper. but thanks anyway.

heat thanks

A copy, whether intentional or not, is still a copy michelle 2207. So the word copy does not imply intention, so does not indicate I was angry at you. If the mods think it's worth unexpiring then I can't complain. Just think how you'd feel if you'd posted what I did 2 days ago, then someone else posted what you did. It's a little miffing. But i'm miffed with the mods, not you. Ultimately I have to do exactly what they say to remain a member of this site, which has found me some nice bits & pieces, so I think i'll get over it! ;-)

You posted 16 individual DVDs from one retailer. The OP has posted 26 individual DVDs from three retailers. Even ignoring the fact that some of these deals are cheaper than yours (because most of the differences aren't significant), I'd hardly call this thread a copy. With no disrespect intended to you, clearly more effort has gone into this one because it is more comprehensive. Suggesting that the OP has copied your thread is just off the mark in my opinion, because that is clearly not the case.

Plus, complaining about missing out on heat and rep? Seriously? Even if your argument was valid that is such a meaningless avenue for complaint.

obviously not as its been unexpired. thanks mods

I never said it was all a copy, that was you misquoting me; there are a couple or items that are new and are a good deal and you deserve credit for finding them. The HMV stuff is obviously a copy and the rest is effectively the same price so no better a good deal than mine. However mine was first, which on this site makes it better. They've probably unexpired it because it's a lot simpler for them (rather than making you post your two items seperately), especially as it's too late for them to do anything about the heat or rep. It's nice to have it all in one deal (although you haven't got the excellent value 2 film sets at HMV my post mentioned). Only because they've unexpired it doesn't mean you're right and i'm wrong, they're just doing what's easiest and best for the site and them.

My deal was actually for far more DVDs than that, a hundred or so, I only spelled a taster of what I thought were best. That is clear from my post. And, this is for cheerleader too, the number of retailers is totally irrelevent in how good a deal is, it's about how good value the deal is! More retailers definately does not mean better.

And I never said the whole deal was a copy! Come on guys, actually read what I type!

i still do not agree..... u obviously have some "issues" e.g. "However mine was first, which on this site makes it better." "you haven't got the excellent value 2 film sets at HMV my post mentioned". enough said really.

As has the OP here, so if you're claiming all HMV DVDs as your deal then his is effectively for all DVDs from Play.com and Amazon as well. Which makes your point entirely self defeating.

Domislice
And cheerleader, the number of retailers is totally irrelevent in how good a deal is, it's about how good value the deal is! More retailers definately does not mean better.
Alright, so if it is all about good value then the OP's thread is automatically better because some of the prices in this thread are cheaper than yours. So again, on your argument you shouldn't have a problem with this thread.
Domislice

And I never said the whole deal was a copy! Come on guys, actually read what I type!
No, but that is the basis of your complaint (i.e. that you posted a very similar deal). Our point was that, in fact, this one is sufficiently different to stand alone, despite also being a Disney DVD deal.

Domislice
Only because they've unexpired it doesn't mean you're right and i'm wrong, they're just doing what's easiest and best for the site and them.
Great excuse there. You've said that the moderators have done what's best for the site, but denied that this shows that your complaint was wrong. Despite the fact that they've clearly decided against your complaint, whilst acting in the best interests of the site. Nice

Really, this is just a lot of thrashing around on your part trying to complain about something that is entirely valid. Let it go. You'll feel better afterwards.

i think you need to get a life if getting heat & rep on here is making you throw your toys out the pram this much :whistling:
the mods have unexpired this as it is a deal for play.com :whistling:& is NOT the same as your post & you may end up getting suspended for expiring deals that you shouldn't have :p

I didn't claim all HMV DVDs, I claimed all Disney DVD's in HMV's Disney sale, as written in my post, all exclusively displayed in the section of my link. So your comparison is void.

Alright, so if it is all about good value then the OP's thread is automatically better because some of the prices in this thread are cheaper than yours. So again, on your argument you shouldn't have a problem with this thread.

Two DVDs are significantly better value, and i've already said the OP should have credit for those. For the rest, this posters deals are 1p cheaper or identical. Mine however have Quidco which would save more than 1p for at least a few people. I personally consider, for those DVDs, this and my post to be of equivilent value. It's up to each member of this site to decide which they'd consider better value. They are from a different retailer so i'll concur that in theory they should be considered a seperate deal to mine. However, out of 26 DVDs listed here, 3 are from Play, 7 are from HMV and 16 are from Amazon. However the OP even states that "it seems that HMV are only 1p more compared to Amazon + you get quidco", which effectively includes 23 of the 26 DVDs as being HMV deals ( ~85%). As such I do feel that the argument that this deal is a Play deal just because the title chooses only to list a deal from Play is very weak. Being posted first on this site for identically priced items does also make the first deal better, even if they are, by definition, of identical value. That is how this site works. For example second posts of identical items from the same retailers are expired, and from different retailers the second post is usually ignored unless the new retailer has a signifcant advantage.

Ultimately I suppose i'm resentful that this post has achieved a higher heat, in contrary to what i've spelt out above. This is immature and I do apologise. You're implication is of course right, that heat isn't important in any real sense.

No, but that is the basis of your complaint (i.e. that you posted a very similar deal). Our point was that, in fact, this one is sufficiently different to stand alone, despite also being a Disney DVD deal.

Fair enough. In value it doesn't differ at all, but in some other way it does. I guess I always see HUKD as a money saving tool, so deals of the same value are effectively the same to me. I can understand the principle of arguing this as a different deal because of different retailers. I address my practical problem with this in my previous comment.

Great excuse there. You've said that the moderators have done what's best for the site, but denied that this shows that your complaint was wrong. Despite the fact that they've clearly decided against your complaint, whilst acting in the best interests of the site. Nice

I suppose in the context of HUKD what a moderator dictates is law, so by disagreeing with the expiry my opinion is technically incorrect. I still think it is at least a grey area in real terms.

Really, this is just a lot of thrashing around on your part trying to complain about something that is entirely valid. Let it go. You'll feel better afterwards.

Irrespective of everything the mods agree with you, for whatever reason, and i'm happy to live with their decision. We obviously disagree, but I think we're gonna have to live with that too. I reckon it's a good time to stop squabbling non-constructively, which is all we're doing. I only got pro-active because I won't sit here and have people misquote me to make out that i'm blatantly wrong. Good luck with your deal, I'm sure it's hotter than mine ever got! ;-) Thanks for the discussion too; it was actually quite fun and you made me think about it in a slightly different way. Sorry for any bother.
