Asda are selling in store and online Taylors 10 y/o Tawny for £5. This may not be everyone's favourite but this is a fantastic port and a great price. I took 16 bottles out of Aberdeen Asda.

This normally retails around £15 and is better than the Warres Optima in supermarkets at £12-13 for 50cl.

stock up while you can. It will last for years if stored properly.

We have a bottle of this at home and it is very nice. I sometimes bung it in when I'm cooking (in me and in the food). It adds a nice strong flavour while warming my innards too ;)

16 bottles! That should last most of the weekend!

Thanks for posting the offer but I don't understand why you need to brag about being so greedy.

Brill.. will pop over to Asda in Coventry shortly for a couple of bottles. Will report back on stock there.

Plenty of stock at the aforementioned branch.. and some good other offers on different bottles of port too. Well worth a look if it's your favourite tipple!

Went and had a look at this which was the first time I noticed it was 50cl although this is on original post. Normal price is also down as £8 so I decided against it.

I like port (too much) but this wasn't necessarily such a good deal in my opinion. Hope everyone who goes for it enjoys it.

Fate, boss just came from porto and toured the taylor site and said was great, he bought a vintage port, sometimes this deal site does not save me money ,bought two to try, hic.

Because he has a large number of elderly relatives stopping over after church and this is appropriate as grannies will drink port on a sunday while clutching their bibles.........why else would he need it.....:p

Great dessert and go to bed drink. Just tried this amber nectar, smooth as velvet, sweet and oak'y with chocolate and vamilla.

I think it is a deal, Tesco has the same @75cl for £19 so 0.5L = £19X 50/75= £12.66, this is £5! http://www.tesco.com/wine/Product/Details/?id=258232819&utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_feed&utm_campaign=wine_xmas_2010

the moral police are out.

why is it greedy to stock up on something on offer ? This port will go in my cellar and last me a couple of years as i thought i indicated in my OP. I do the same when legs of lamb are on offer and fill my freezer, is that greedy too ? I dont consume them all at once !

Next time i wont bother posting.

Thanks for the post Ian, I bought a bottle seemed quality but I know nothing about Port being more of a wine/whisky/beer man. I always stock up on offers too, why pay £5 for 1 bottle this month and £10 next month? This sites about economising.

'This normally retails around £15' - it said it was reduced from £8 in store

EDIT its £19 for a 75cl in Tesco, hot deal, thanks

no problem,

The reduced figure of £8 was already reduced once, but only for 48hrs before they reduced it again to £5. I recall it was on sale usually at £12.97 which ties in with the Tesco cost for 75cl.

in general Taylors is the highest quality and cost of ports commonly available. there are obviously better vintage ports, but not at £5. if anyone knows of any please let me know.

I bought 8 more yesterday to stock up, a lovely tipple, there's plenty in too, Port deals must fly under most peoples radars
