Frequently Asked Questions
How can I use this product to receive Freesat?
The service makes use of the same fleet of satellites as satellite service Sky Digital: Astra and Eurobird 1. This means that any satellite dish which has been used to receive this service will be capable of receiving Freesat, with the addition of this receiver.

has anyone tries this with mediaportal?

I've had this a few months now and it works great in Windows media centre 7 which has native support for S2 cards. It does come with a normal and a low profile bracket and an extra power cable but I've not had to use that .You get a remote with it but the Media Centre remote works with this just fine and to top it all you get the upgraded 6981 card not the 6980 as shown.

I ordered these, and what actually turns up is the TBS 6981 card - I have 3 (6 tuners) in my HTPC running Mediaportal and they are spot on..

Oh, and by the way.. The molex connectors are rarely used - if you run a motorised dish off one, then you will need one molex - my others have no extra power on them and they work just fine. According to the manufacturer the extra power was only added for motherboards which can't supply enough via the PCIe slot.

can the card's ir turn the pc on from shutdown? can the card wake according to the media centre record schedule?

Well, I run 3 clients at the moment, plus the main single seat server - still overkill though (I bought them cos they were cheap!)

Not sure, I don't have the IR plugged in - I use a Harmony One with Mediaportal.

Yes, I have 6 feeds.. I have an octo LNB on my dish - you can't really use a splitter, unless you make sure that both channels on a single feed are on the same polarity..

Wasn't before even though it's the same outfit, no odds; TBS 6981 as mentioned earlier just waiting to try it out.
